Hasn't done anything that I've heard that I don't love. Unique with a great understanding of history, that this album really spotlights.
(CD Artists House/Galaxy Omnivore Recordings OVCD-333 5CD-Box) 2019 .... February 23rd and May 25th + 26th,, 1979 @ Fantasy Studios Berkeley .... Art Pepper (as, cl) + George Cables or Hank Jones (p) + Ron Carter or Charlie Haden (b) + Al Foster or Billy Higgins (dr) .... in the late 70`s Art Pepper finally shook off his John Coltrane influences and during his final years consolidated himself as master of anguished balladry but still perfectly capable to gear up for speedier material .... both groups are excellent, but for me the rhythm section with George Cables + Charlie Haden + Billy Higgins hits the spot .... fought with myself but finally gave in and bought the Omnivore release - and was rewarded with superb sound quality .... highly recommended ....

THE HOLY BARBARIAN ST. LOUIS 1959 - GRANT GREEN (Uptown) CD with Grant Green (guitar), Bob Graf (tenor sax), Sam Lazar (organ), Chauncey Williams (drums) All selections recorded at The Holy Barbarian Coffee House, St. Louis, 25th December 1959 except one track recorded at the same venue in February 1960. The recordings were first issued by Uptown Records in 2012 with a 20 page booklet included. This is a very listenable album, and despite what the cover may indicate, this is much more of a band session led more so by Bob Graf and Sam Lazar than Grant Green. I'm partial to the live-in-the-club vibe that's been captured on the recording.

(CD East Wind Universal Japan "East Wind Masters Collection 1000" UCCJ-9139) 2015 .... recorded "live" December 23rd, 1974 @ "Pit Inn" Tokyo .... Cedar Walton (p) + Sam Jones (b) + Billy Higgins (dr) .... describing the virtues of this superb rhythm section would mean "carrying coals to Newcastle" .... simply an outstanding live performance and this DSD remastered CD edition from 2015 has glorious sound ....
Is it you on bass? Just kidding, cause the moustache . Monty budwig played on lots of Guaraldi classics. All these guys are the greatests! Just the drummer i dont know
