Freddie Redd Quartet With Jackie McLean – The Music From "The Connection" Label: Blue Note – UCCQ-5082 Series: Blue Note, The Masterworks – Format: CD, Album, Limited Edition, Reissue, Remastered, SHM-CD Country: Japan Released: 25 Mar 2015 Style: Hard Bop Alto Saxophone – Jackie McLean Bass – Michael Mattos Drums – Larry Ritchie Piano, Composed By [Music] – Freddie Redd Recorded February 16, 1960. This is one helluva session for Jackie McLean - probably the best I've ever heard him in a hard bop setting. He's simply on fire here. This is an outstanding album all around, but I've been floored by McLean's playing here. He's just killing it over these Redd compositions.

Abrams* Piano, Electric Piano, Organ – Amina Myers* Piano, Synthesizer – Muhal Richard Abrams Theremin – Yousef Yancey* Trombone, Sousaphone, Synthesizer – George Lewis Voice – Jay Clayton Recorded July 1979 in NYC. No percussion, but there's some synth & electric piano mixed in with some theremin as well. I like this album, but the vocal stylings of Jay Clayton on Inneroutersight are not my bag.

The last track is very much a soundscape and really unique considering the year they did it. Pretty damn cool.
CLIFFORD JORDAN QUARTET / GLASS BEAD GAMES / STRATA-EAST / 1937 / FIRST US STEREO PRESSING SES-19738 LP After all these years on Jazz Beat - why hasn't anyone ever recommended "Glass Bead Games" and "Another Earth" (posted earlier) to me? I mean, those two are instant classics to me and jumped directly into the 10 or 20 favourite jazz albums of mine...just unbelievably good music (I am the one to blame though, as I used to be veeeery hesitant when it comes to 70's jazz).
Doing a very brief thread search found at least a few mentions of GBG and AE. Both favorites of myself and lots of others here.
