What a terrific album that never gets old, a classic. I’ve been playing this all week and toying with buying the vinyl reissue at $48........I also love Firm Roots which I believe was recorded two years later.

This is Oscar PETERSON at the piano (RCA/Sony Music) 2CD Oscar Peterson's first recordings. There are 49 tracks on this compilation including all 32 sides recorded between 1945 and 1949 and released on 78 rpm by Victor (Canada). 17 alternate takes are also included. Many or all of the 78 rpm sides can be found on the following LPs This Is Oscar Peterson (10" RCA) Modern Jazz Piano (10" RCA Victor) The Young Oscar Peterson (Camden LP) Great Jazz Pianists Of Our Time (Camden LP) I Got Rhythm (RCA LP) Rockin' In Rhythm (RCA LP) The 2CD set was issued in Japan on RCA via Sony's Jazz Collection 1000 series. I love the playing on these early sessions and it's great to have them all compiled in this manner. "These tracks are sprightly and dynamic as Peterson dips back into the Dixieland and boogie-woogie traditions." - Amazon reviewer.

Was just trying to turn up information on this reissue through Google and I think you might be my only hope Guess it might be a while since you listened but if you remember could you tell me how the sound is please? Any mastering/pressing info? Discogs has nothing. If it's a bog standard digital pressed to vinyl sort of deal I'd probably rather carry on being patient for an original but I could be persuaded if they made a really good job of it.
