Curious to see if the Last Experience is equally credited on commercial releases or not.

My Black Gold comment was a stab at humour!

In all seriousness, since Black Gold was recorded in 1970, EU 50 copyright law might encourage EH to release the rest of it before 2020 is over! Use it or lose it!

The positive is that the bootleggers don't have this ……………………………… is that a positive????

So EH feel safe that no one else will put it out. I'm aware of very few copies in private collections!

If EH has any fear that other Black Gold copies circulate among collectors and could potentially be booted, they would be wise financially to publish all unreleased Black Gold elements by Dec. 31, 2020.

If EH is confident they have the only copies of Black Gold, they might sit on it a while longer and milk its publication across multiple future release packages to extract maximum revenue.

The general trend is for record labels and artist estates to assume copies have leaked out and to publish as much as they can when confronted with EU 50 deadlines.

"... will be screened to the public for the very first time since it was shot 50 years ago…"

Not exactly true. there were one or two screening of Gold & Goldstein's original edit which was titled simple "Experience".
Also, there was a screening a few years ago (perhaps not this exact edit?) in a U.S. cinema somewhere. I remember Rosa Lee Brooks talking about the event on her FB page (she had been invited to the screening).

None of this footage was ever seen by public?

We saw Foxy Lady. Little Wing, Voodoo Child, and Smashing of the Amps in the trailer. They mention Fire and Stone Free. Lover Man, I Don't Live Today, Room Full or Mirrors, Purple Haze and Wild Thing were in the original film, as was the acoustic Hound Dog at the party. Sunshine and Bleeding Heart were on the soundtracks. Plus Hear My Train and Red House were sometimes mentioned for the 1969 live album. So there's a LOT to choose from depending on the quality of the footage. I don't think we'll see all of these, but maybe most?

It's been available on bootleg tape/dvd for years. I have am memory of a clip being shown on the "Old Grey Whistle Test" 1973ish, that may have been audio only, long time ago memory is a bit fuzzy.

I can’t believe they would spend the money and time to restore this for a “one night only” screening. Hopefully it gets a wider release.

If one has the purple box set & the current version of In The West, you can substitute both the AH tracks, (or is it 3 tracks? Either 2 or 3 I know), from the box set for the same songs on In The West & replicate the original In The West release exactly.

Cheers, I do know that already. I have my original LP from 1972, the West German CD from whenever, the recent-ish CD release the recent-ish double LP, the faux velvet Purple box too.
