What's the deal with these new 2 disc re-issues? There's already a 3 disc Village Green.

There's also a box with 3 LP's and 5 CD's coming at the same time.

Why would anyone want a box with CDs and LPs? I don't spend a lot of money on any of these big anniversary boxes by any band.

I was 17 when I first discovered The Kinks' music. I was 20 when I began collecting their records and getting serious about being a Kinks fan. They always sound fresh and exciting, no matter how many times you play them. In 2014, with the 50th Anniversary excitement, Anthology 1964-1971, Essential Kinks, Muswell Hillbillies Legacy Edition and the BMG reissues of the 2011 Deluxes, I got bitten by the bug again. When I got the mono vinyl box in July...I was bitten by the bug...all over again. It's an amazing feeling when you get bitten by the Kinks' bug, especially after a little downtime from not playing them in a while.

I'm not sure if it's just an infatuation, or my interest will last? Of course I've been familiar with their hits since I was a teenager in the 70s, but I'm only buying the albums for the first time now. I'm not really a big fan of the old 60s sound for regular listening. I prefer the modern sound of the 70s, but of course the Kinks are hit and miss after their classic period. I've got Lola, and Sleepwalker ordered to get me started on their 70s stuff.

From the '70's, I would recommend Everybody's In Showbiz, Misfits, Schoolboys In Disgrace, and Low Budget as well.

I would just like to add imho other than the stones no 60’s band had a better run in the 80’s than these lads.

No. I haven't any interest in LPs. Was there the first time around and I like CDs.

Cd’s have no soul. They are like the vampires of musical media.

Nah, it all depends on the mastering. I can't be bothered screwing around with vinyl.

    I was joking.

I ordered the big combo box mainly because I got it for $40!

Otherwise, I probably would have got the 2CD.

As someone else said of Waterloo Sunset. Perfect song! Most days of the week this would be my favourite song ever.

Although I heard a few songs on the radio as a kid that stuck with me (Apeman, Lola) it was down to (my favourite band at the time) the Jam's cover of David Watts that I investigated further. Started with Kronikles which is still an amazing collection. Then picked up some of the last 70's albums as they were released and eventually back tracked to the classic period. Face to Face through to Muswell Hillbillies is an amazing run of albums.

I got my CDs. Listened to Lola and Muswell. Lola's a great rock n roll album. Love it! Muswell is okay. Sounds like their laid back country **** kicker album.

Low Budget is one of my favorite Kink's albums. Great humour and great guitar licks through out the entire album.

I liked it far more after seeing the television special. That was onlya few years ago. Prior to that it sat on my record shelf for years as a bad discount purchase.

I was reading an old Guitar Player interview with Dave Davies. I love the way he fluffed off Van Halen, and dissed Jimmy Page. Gotta love the guy!
