Is it classic in the sense of "judged over a period of time to be of the highest quality and outstanding of its kind" or in the sense of "very typical of its kind"?
If the latter then there are plenty of new bands that churn out the rock cliches.

Billy Squire comes to mind as the last artist to have had seemingly zero influence from punk/new wave, but not a band...

The last major band with no punk would probably be AC/DC, ELO or Rush(Well you might say punk for them but they predate it).

The last classic rock band has yet to be born. Can we stop living in the past and accept that lots of exciting rock is going on RIGHT NOW?

Wrong thread. That would be "Rock is dead"

    Oh no! It's closed!

He seemed to have drawn a lot of influence from bad aerobics worlouts though. At least in his music videos. Sadly. The "Rock Me Tonight" performance art clip was the last of it's kind too.

In my collection, it would be either the Black Crowes or these guys, Vintage Trouble. Old school.

This is the definition that I use.
    So....
I don't remember what exactly the OP was asking, but I thought it was - who was the last band that got played on classic rock stations - Black Crows in my experience.
As for new bands, even if they sound like 70 bands, they don't get played on classic rock stations, so not "classic rock".

Sloan is essentially a power pop band.
Even in the early 80's power pop didn't get much run on (what would become) classic rock stations.

There is over lap to be sure.

Yes is not the last classic rock band. And I don't understand your comparison of them to La Coartada.
