Ok, well-acted. There isn't much story here that couldn't have been told effectively in about 2o minutes. I just didn't get the point of 2 hours of this.

It bothered me that occasionally, scenes seemed like obvious cgi or matte backgrounds with the foreground action done on a sound stage. It took me out of the movie quite a bit.

This is a really highly-rated film for those looking for an extreme revenge movie. IT was well-done, well-acted, I just didn't get the point of atrocity after atrocity from beginning to end. I didn't feel like we knew any of these victims enough to care much about what they endured.

Jimmy B. I'm poor & sure wouldn't show off if I was rich.

I saw Corpse Bride for the first time.

Still trying to figure out what I just saw....
    It was very nice-looking.....
The first act was very good.
    The ending was nice.
    The middle, well...

    "Ape vs. Monster" (2021)
An experimental space capsule crash lands back on earth, and the chimpanzee "pilot" grows to immense size due to exposure to an alien goop. The same substance has a similar effect on a lizard near the crash site, which eventually leads to a clash between the two overgrown critters, with a bunch of puny humans caught in the middle.
This is The Asylum's knock-off of "Kong vs. Godzilla," and it features all of their usual trademarks -- cheap sets, terrible acting, crappy CGI, and an appearance by a slumming, D-list star (Eric "Julia's Brother" Roberts). It spends way too much time on talky, scientific mumbo-jumbo dialogue between the human characters and not nearly enough on the creatures, so those expecting serious monster mayhem will be disappointed.
It's not the worst Asylum movie I've ever seen, but it isn't really worth your time, either.

Recently watched the Blu-ray; had this in a full screen DVD version because when I first bought it, I was using a small Sony 4:3 tube TV. I actually wouldn't have replaced that disc -- because it looked and sounded so good -- if my Panasonic UHD disc player allowed for stretching of full screen content to fill the screen.

I watched The Final Countdown on BD last night. It's hard to believe that Blue Underground is asking $53 for preorders for this flick on UHD-BD.... :shake: It's a good movie but a great one, no!

Wild Combination: A Portrait of Arthur Russell (2008) Pretty good documentary about the cellist, composer who started about 800 projects but released very little. Access to his parents and lover adds lots to the story. When asked if Arthur had lived what would have happened his father says he'd probably have 800 more cassettes of unreleased music. Ernie Brookes from Modern Lovers appears throughout. On Kanopy, so if you've got a library card you can watch it for nothing.

I still have this on the DVD from Blue Underground looks and sounds good enough for me. $53 is also too pricey for me, no doubt it will sell out quickly.
