I'm 32 years late on this one but I finally watched E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial from start to finish last night. It's cute that's about it.

Showed the wife Three O'Clock High last night for the first time.

She loved it. It still holds up. A real gem in the 80s teen comedies genre.

BTW, if you haven't seen it, I HIGHLY recommend it. Doesn't matter your age..

The Master. Wasn't particularly impressed, although Phoenix was incredible.

We watched It's a Wonderful Life on blu-ray on Christmas Day. This version:

The picture on this disc looks amazing! I've never seen the texture in Donna Reed's hair with such definition.

We did not watch the colourized version.

A subtle sly look at repression and exploitation.

Still running through the Murnau / Borzage at Fox collection. Just saw Lucky Star, probably the weakest of the Borzage efforts I've seen thus far. It just didn't do anything new or resonant compared to the likes of Street Angel, Lazybones, etc.

"The Book of Life" at the $3 theater. My wife, two boys, and I really enjoyed it.

    Unbroken. Wow.

I just sat in my seat and couldn't think of much to say. Powerful film. 99% of movies made today are crap. Glad this is an exception.
