Just watched a new Canadian show called Coroner. Excited?

It was dreadful. Jenny the Coroner spent most of her time playing cop.

The Sopranos (season 5) Although the same guys are directing that did season 1 (Tim Van Patton etc) this season has a lot quicker editing than the previous 4. In fact the whole show is paced and looks pretty different. They've avoided the standard Sopranos plot (some poor schmuck is seduced by Tony's lifestyle and ends up either dead or bankrupt) for the most part. Chris' gf is bumped up from cameo to almost second lead.

Torture TV. How the heck is Blue Bloods in its 11th season? Tuned in to watch an old acquaintance in a cameo. Will not be back. :thumbsdow

How, in your opinion, is Blue Bloods "torture TV"?

Perhaps the C.I.A. uses it for their interrogations? ;)

It has terrible writing, practically a polemic. If I wanted to recruit someone with the new/old right wing brainwashing this is where I'd start. If I wanted to enjoy a thoughtful look at New York City law enforcement it would only cause pain.
    Hence: torture.

Back on Barney Miller. Dated, but at least it's funny in a good self-referential way: everyone in New York is a crackpot.

    John Adams (2008, Tom Hooper)
HBO mini-series about the life and (mostly) career of the 2nd U.S. president. One of my faves and though it is full of tropes it's an intriguing series about colonial America.

“Little Boy Blue” on Britbox. It’s a soul-crushingly sad series based on a true story about the murder of an 11 year old boy in England. The family’s grief is palpable. The acting and writing are top-notch.

It starts out slow but picks up towards the end of the season. It took a while for everybody to find their groove. Seasons 2-5 are really good. I'm still P'ed off at ABC for pulling the plug on this show halfway through season 5. They discarded Boston Legal and several other shows because they didn't like their politics and I believe they thought they could replace them with cheap reality shows. Boston Legal is my favorite TV show that isn't Star Trek related. I wish it had gone on longer.
