Maid. Miniseries on Netflix (10 episodes). Social drama (about a young mother who becomes homeless after she ran away from her abusive husband) that is not too heavy and that's going to win all the awards next year (especially Margaret Qualley, who you may remember from The Leftovers). Yes, it's mostly very good. My quibbles are minor.
Been watching Stargate SG-1 (up to the final few episodes of season 3). Not feeling it last night, so started on China Beach again (Pilot + 3 episodes) Stargate SG-1 - Wikipedia China Beach - Wikipedia Gotta Love a woman in uniform.... Samantha Carter: Amanda Tapping Dr. Janet Fraiser: Teryl Rothery First Lieutenant Colleen Murphy: Dana Delany Cherry White: Nan Woods
R.I.P. Larry, Daryl & his other brother Daryl purchase The Minuteman Cafe. Episode 2: Twenty Year High. Dick becomes jealous when Joanna decides to keep a date with her old college boyfriend that they made twenty years ago."
The Adventures Of Ichabod And Mr Toad on dvd. On my old style 20" crt flat screen tv, it still looks great. Irving, Disney and Bing-how could you go wrong?
Got hooked on a show called The Indian Doctor . Anyone else a fan? They recently had a story arc about smallpox and the vaccine that seemed like it was written directly from current events -now I find out the show was written a decade ago! Good writing, fine acting, a bit of humor and romance along with the drama; and the scenic landscapes of mid 20th century Wales are beguiling.
About A Boy Cute, family friendly comedy based on film of same name. I wasn't crazy about the first couple of episodes (I suppose comparing to original film, even though I'd put it in my head that it won't have the charm of the orginal being set in the UK. US series are usually typically more frantically paced & in-your-face. Episode 1 was a recap of the film.) After that, I began enjoying it quite a lot & found that it did have its' own charm, after all, taking it as its' own story entity (& it's not like me to hang in longer than 10 minutes if I don't initially care for something). These were the last 2 episodes in Season 1; a little bummed it's over. (Apparently, there is a season 2, but DVD not playable on US players.) Spoiler Season 1, Episode 12: About A Hammer. "Will invites Sam (short for Samantha) to move in with him as she is forced to evacuate her apartment. However, when Andy warns him that his home will soon be turned into her home, Will begins to panic." Episode 13: About a rib chute. "Sam has decided to move to New York for a new job. Will is completely inconsolable and sinks into self-pity, and Fiona and Markus try to comfort him." Clip is from (not good) 1st episode & comments are much like my first thoughts. Thankfully, the show did improve past initial opening episodes.
Episode 9 of Season 2 of Awkwafina Is Nora From Queens. Due to a problem with our TV provider, we couldn’t watch it for a couple hours of weeks.
It's been awhile since I checked in to see what's playing on Comedy Central: I can't believe they're also airing that show. It seems more stations are showing it than there are stations airing "Monk" re-runs...
