The 2006 has the 1st 2 LPs. And as amazing as this CD sounds, it drives me nuts that the last track, Lucille, is missing the last note!!

Blasting the rsd white vinyl of the 2nd lp. Woo hoo. Sounds great. Powerful mono!

Wish they would do more '50s rock n roll SACDs.

The advantage of having both the 6 CD Ace set and the Mofi SACD is that all of the masters on the Ace set have the added reverb like the singles, and the Mofi versions are dry. Best of both worlds.

  9. Make sure to hear the Buddy Holly SACD from AP.

I have it but prefer the tonality of Steve's disc.

After a few more spin, I have to admit that it is one of the pinnacle of the MFSL SACDs.

Actually, it's not. For some reason my old CD player cut off the last note. This has been rectified by my new Oppo 103.

The first time I heard this CD, I was blown away by how good it sounded. When I was in college and heard this, I could not believe that something from this era could sound so good! It is what made me search out and find out who Steve Hoffman was...

MoFi site has these for 60 brand new. I assume it’s a good deal cause I don’t see them anywhere else for this cheap ! ;) Thankfully MoFi sometimes carries their own old stuff once in awhile :)!!

This is THE Little Richard disc to get. These are the raw, untampered with tapes. No extra echo or reverb. I couldn't believe that 'Lucille' and 'Long Tall Sally' sounded like I was in the recording studio with him. All the other copies of these either had very minor speed issues (playing slightly slow) or had added echo/reverb (like the 45's).

I just wish they'd release the third? Richard album? The one with 'Shake A Hand'. I'd love to hear his Vee-Jay stuff in this quality too, his Vee-Jay tracks 'Bama Lama Bama Loo' and the re-recordings of 'Baby Face' and 'Keep A Knockin' are favourites of mine.
