A new documentary film coming out this April: ‘People will find out’: May Pang on her time with John Lennon and Yoko Ono
Photo chopped pic…just sayin’. I am looking forward to this, though. I enjoyed both of May’s books and it’s an interesting part of John’s seventies madness.
It opens next week. Yeah, Yoko is welcome to have her lawyer send any letters she likes, but the truth is a defense. The Lost Weekend: A Love Story (2022) - IMDb
I have both May Pang’s books on her relationship with John. Both very good. If I wasn’t already going to a concert that night I’d be at the theatre for this. Is it a cash in? Perhaps. Will it be an accurate portrayal of John at the time? Yes.
I'm pretty sure it will get a regular theatrical release, which means it will open on a Friday, and may be in theaters until the following Thursday. Longer if it's successful.
If it was a one night event, the date would be on the poster, rather than just indicating that it was coming in one particular month. Update: I just checked, and apparently it is a single night event, and only shows Thursday April 13th. And if you're an AMC A*List subscriber, it is excluded from the program.
I’m looking forward to seeing and purchasing this movie. It’s a very prolific period in his career,… Mind Games, Rock ‘N’ Roll, Walls And Bridges?.. and May is so intriguing and a joy to look at. She was a hottie! Easy to see why John chose her, or why Yoko chose her for John. However that went!
The book was absolutely harrowing. Just a fascinating but depleting read. Probably the best portrait of how broken John truly was that's out there. This will be interesting but probably not as vivid.
I'm interested. Hopefully there's a lot of great and restored footage of John during this time period. I really don't like it when documentaries rely too much on present day interviews. Maybe some surprising remixes of 'Mind Games' and 'Walls and Bridges' showcased? That'd be cool, but doubtful since Yoko probably didn't sanction this.
I heard May’s interview on the Fab 4 Free 4 All podcast. They basically said there is some music included, apparently an unreleased rarity, and hinted that it was Surprise Surprise (Sweet Bird Of Paradox), which would be appropriate. unrelated, I’ve heard for years that (Forgive Me) My Little Flower Princess was also written for May.
Seaman? You guess there is a dedicated little brigade of anti-Yoko (she controlled him) ex-hangers on and people that got left behind by one or the other or both, that continue the need to 'tell the real story'. So with all this disclosure Lennon was still in an ongoing intimacy with her, was Pang also unfaithful to her partner (or partners) until Lennons death?
Loving John was a depressing read, but compelling. I sort of regret reading it. That's said, I'll go see the film this weekend.
