Buster Keaton was on almost every show before he died in 1966, so he probably would have done a shot on it if he were alive in the 70s.

Why couldn't he do two roles? Bernie Koppel did so on one episode, playing both his normal role and the role of a detective investigating a crime.

 

Was Alice Cooper ever on that show? He would have been perfect...

 

You could have had a double crossover with Lt Columbo and Charlie's Angels teaming up to solve a murder on the Love Boat, along with maxwell Smart looking for Siegfried the Great posing as a crew member. Or get laurence Olivier...at the time he was doing everything to build a large estate to leave to his family when he died.

Most of these are pretty hilarious, but the England Dan and John Ford Coley one really cracked me up. It's a brilliant combination of how random a selection it is, the picture of the two of them, and the reminder that they were pretty popular for a time. Awesome!
