Just got Prime the other day, and watched the first 3 amazing episodes. Then I found out it is in 4K!! Then I found the Long Strange Trip series Me likey.
Wow, Mrs. Maisel was nominated for 14 Emmys and won a whopping 8: Outstanding Comedy Series Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series - Rachel Bosnahan Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series - Alex Borstein Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series - Amy Sherman-Palladino Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series - Amy Sherman-Palladino Outstanding Casting for a Comedy Series Outstanding Music Supervision Outstanding Single-Camera Picture Editing for a Comedy Series That is huge. Though noted cinematographer David Mullen (whom Amy Sherman-Palladino called "The DP of the Gods") was robbed of an Emmy in last week's technical awards. This is one of the best-lit, most beautiful shows on television, with a really lush, nostalgic look that also looks gritty and real when it needs to be. Amazing set design and costumes... it really looks like an idealized version of 1960 (even more so than Mad Men). A fantastic TV series in every way. Emmys: Amazon Nabs First Series Win With 'The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel'
Gonna jump on the bandwagon... this show just jumped to the top of my Amazon/Netflix/Hulu 'series to binge' list
I need some help... started watching this last night and assumed I was watching it in 4k HDR. When I paused the show for a moment I noticed in the bottom left that I was only getting 1080 HD. I know that with Netflix everything defaults to the highest quality possible, be it 4k or HDR but for the life of me, I cannot find a setting or even a fix in order to ensure that I'm getting this (or any other Amazon Prime content) in the highest possible quality I can. I am hard wired with Xfinity Gigabit pro and have a 4k/HDR compatible TV (LG 65UJ6300 4k UHD HDR Smart LED TV). Like I said... I watch HDR Netflix content, why not Amazon Prime if it's available? Any suggestions? Much appreciated.
No, for me "it just works." My only suggestion is to power-cycle the set, disconnect Amazon, go back to Amazon, re-select the show, and see if the "HDR" logo pops up in the upper right. If it's there, you're seeing 4K HDR. Usually the thing is so bloody bright, I get momentarily stunned (even after seeing HDR for more than a year), so there's no mistaking regular HD for 4K HDR.
Maybe someone already mentioned this, but the closest real-life parallel to "Mrs. Maisel" was comedienne Jean Carroll. She's not remembered today because she semi-retired to spend more time with her Family, but she lived to be NINETY-EIGHT!
Cool post-Emmy write up on Rachel Brosnahan in Variety. Rachel Brosnahan on Finding Mrs. Maisel and Her ‘Marvelous’ Emmys Night Just an aside, a former colleague of mine went to high school with Ms. Brosnahan in the Chicago suburbs, and had prom pix to prove it. He said they all knew she was something special even back then. She seems like a really nice person. Anyway, that's my barely brush with fame for today! dan c
Cafe Wha? They shoulda had David Lee Roth play his Uncle Manny... would have been great stunt casting!
Great show. I had to stop myself from binging the whole thing after 3 episodes so it could soak in. The breadth of supporting talent is amazing.
Doh, we finished the 8th and final 1st-season episode last night, and now I'm bummed out that there's no more to watch. That's a rare show that just keeps getting better and better -- there's some huge reveals and surprises in this episode. I hope they bring back Jane Lynch, who's a riot as a rival comedian who's been well-established for decades, but is hiding some very interesting secrets...
New longer promo for Season 2 of Mrs. Maisel. I bet it cost a bloody fortune to license a Streisand track...
She does make one helluva Jello mold. I had no idea Alex Borstein and Will Sasso were an item, until The Emmys. I had no idea I'm dying for Amy Sherman Palladino to star in her own series, until about 15 minutes later.
