The standard black vinyl is up for pre-order at Amazon as well. They're saying May 7th too. https://smile.amazon.com/Monkees-Dl...1611014610&sprefix=the+monkees,aps,162&sr=8-1
US Colgems Mono is a true mono, but the LP sounds pretty poor to be honest. Complete lack of low end.
I have the same record. IIRC, the US mono records aren't folded because there were dedicated mono masters made when they originally recorded the tracks.
Some of the rhino 80's were disc dubs I heard, and mixed sources. As well as the Arista CDs, mostly tapes that were mono or a few gens down (remixed). Not sure on exact albums for the vinyl's, but a new book will explore that for U.S. releases only.
June is an important month and a pricey one too ... *Andrew's book (SDE & Paperback) *Monkees Lp (although I already paid) *The Collected Works of Jim Morrison: Poetry, Journals, Transcripts, and Lyrics - book & audio book When's that 'Nez compilation' and "Dolenz sings Nesmith" CD being released?
From Run Out Groove's Facebook: Update: The Monkees "The Monkees" deluxe 2LP is now shipping June 18. This applies to both the yellow vinyl exclusive and the standard black edition. Your patience is appreciated as we continue to navigate shipping delays and plant capacity issues due to the ongoing pandemic.
April 30th for the comp and May 21 for Dolenz Sings Nesmith. Good call on that Jim book - it totally slipped my mind.
Well, if you ordered prior to mine you will be getting the yellow variant. I emailed them and they confirmed my order was for the yellow vinyl.
Per their FB page...."Monkees deluxe debut now shipping July 9. Thanks for your patience as we navigate through the delays in vinyl manufacturing."

Black. I didn't jump on it at first because exchange rate and international shipping was going to make it pretty pricey. But then it showed up on amazon.ca and I had a $10 credit so it was a no brainer. I ordered it March 1st. It arrived about half an hour ago. I haven't had a chance to give it a spin yet or really go through it even, but let me just say, THIS is how you do a vinyl release (Friday Music take note!). First of all, the sheer weight of the thing is insane. When I picked up the amazon box I almost thought they'd accidentally shipped me a cookbook. The gatefold cover is exceptional.... Glossy, thick card-stock (or whatever it is they use) with great quality pictures on the inside gatefold. The gatefold insert liner-notes (written by Professor Sandoval) look great too and are on a nice, good quality paper. As I said, I haven't been able to give them a listen yet, but the LPs themselves weigh a ton and are super-flat.
I was totally floored to get a shipment notice, and wasn't completely believing it until it arrived. I don't think Canada has EVER received stuff before the US. We're usually lagging a month behind at least.
