It's worth noting that the first season of Miami Vice introduced a number of 'oldies' in addition to the then current hits of the day. Episode 14 was no exception. As for this two-parter, I need to watch it again. Some episodes of Miami Vice I have found to be instantly engaging, while others take repeated viewings to fully absorb the story. "The Golden Triangle (Parts 1 & 2)" is one such episode for me.

 

Yes, Golden Triangle is a very "involved" two-parter. But worth it.

I've been thinking about the use of a very similar sequencer part in "The Chase" (first heard in the pilot) to one Jean-Michel used famously a few years earlier - I was wondering if it was a little "hello" from Jan!

I really enjoyed episode 15 of season 1. The classic track 'Smuggler's Blues' by Glenn Frey, as well as the tension of Trudy being blown up! Whew, what an episode!!

 

Iconic song in the run of Miami Vice. For my money, the best solo tune Frey ever cut.

Had never heard of this track before watching the series, but it's another great song, used to excellent effect.

Quite a few shocking moments in Smugglers Blues.
