a fan is a precious thing without them it's over simple as that...some know it and some don't care...
just getting us all together now and having some "Outlaws" fun! this band deserves it...You're welcome and thanks for stopping by to chat!
I love his debut album...I wore it out... it had excellent sound quality! I still have my needle-drop. The Wounded Bird CD is horrible...
isn't it great! don't ya love rediscovering a favorite! In my case I play them often...at least one a week! still...
Yeah, great thread! "Green Grass And High Tides" is my favorite Outlaws' track, but this one is pretty special, too. Here's a live performance of "Ghost Riders In The Sky":
Hurry Sundown The Debut Lady In Waiting Bring It Back Live Eye OF The Storm Playing To Win Ghost riders Los Hombres Malo Soldiers Of Fortune Diablo Canyon Are the ones I listen to in that order is how I rank them. I picked up a still in it's original shrink wrap unopened Henry Paul Grey Ghost LP in a record store in Davenport Iowa a couple of of years ago what a find. I also like Henry Paul's Feel The Heat. Great band.
I couldn't get enough of the Debut playedit pretty much nonstop and wore it out somewhat then Hurry Sundown came out seen them for the first time off that tour and that album won me over still does to this day.
Again, both are excellent and I have both on vinyl. I actually have always liked Feel The Heat a bit better. Feel The Heat, Whiskey Talkin, Shot To Hell, Longshot and Go Down Rockin are all great songs.
Some others I have always loved Song For You, Girl From Ohio, Gunsmoke, Holiday, Falling Rain, Comin Home, Long Gone, Blueswater and Song In The Breeze...........among others.
I'm another of the first 3 are the best brigade. I prefer the more country rock approach over the 3 guitar army. My ranking is Lady In Waiting The Outlaws Hurry Sundown Back in the vinyl days I owned all their albums & agree a box set would be nice.
Posting this link will save a bit of typing: Artists or bands whose greatest hits album is enough for you The song 'Green Grass and High Tides' I think is my favourite Outlaws song too.
A friend of mine who is a huge fan says after the third album the albums become overproduced and slick sounding.
It was me it happened to, and I was still young. I don't think I was mature enough to re-tort to an "idol" of mine (I use idol loosely, because when young - teens or very early 20's - any famous musician is larger than life). The issue was I did feel a bit "small" after his comment, because I was born and raised in New Jersey, but loved MTB, CDB, Outlaws, etc almost more than most other music at the time, so I dressed the part (as mentioned Tony Lama boots, cowboy hat), and it is quite possible I looked silly or showed that I was basically posing in a way that was not my true nature. Now that I am much older, I no longer play a part that I'm not, nor do I see musicians as "more than human" or "larger than life". I have matured, and I assume Mr. Paul (who is about 9 years older than me) has as well.
I'm not crazy about his production on that album, but there are some good songs. In The Eye Of The Storm to me, is much better in every way.
