Pro-Ject 6 Perspex SB with Ortofon 2M Bronze (Sumiko Amethyst on the way) paired with a Pro-Ject Tube Box DS2 Pre-Amp...
This Ariston RD 40 is still going strong in my second system. One of these days I hope to upgrade the stock tonearm and maybe treat the chassis to a fresh paint job.
As of last week my Delphi VI Ref is sporting a new tonearm. Replaced the venerable SME V with a Graham Phantom Supreme Mk II. The latter is more adjustable, sounds great, and features a more reliable cueing lever mechanism.
My Holbo air-bearing TT. I love its overall simplicity over other air-bearing tables. Sounds fantastic even with a ridiculously cheap MM cartridge, which will be changed to something better someday…. well never mind, not sure where the photo went! Ugh…
How do you like the Audiomods arm? I have one on my Ariston RD11 Superieur with an XV-1S cartridge - great combination.
I'm really impressed, it has been transferred across from the Acoustic Solid Wood. It was described to me as "gets out of the way and allows the cartridge to get on with it". The VTA On the fly and micro VTF adjust are really useful too - being able to adjust the cartridge by just loosening one bolt is excellent.
I agree with the "getting out of the way" comment. I tried 3 diff cartridges with mine: the XV-1S, Hana ML and Lyra Delos. All 3 painted a completely different soundscape which lead me to believe the arm really was just letting the cartridges do their thing. The Delos was a particularly good match as well.
Having owned various incarnations of Bob's arms for 23+ years at least part of the sound quality improvement when using them is ease of repeatable setup. If the arm is properly mounted on the table then setting stylus alignment takes < 5 minutes using the provided jig. Azimuth is equally easy to set. The only adjustment that is fiddly is anti-skate. And every arm that has on the fly VTA adjustment should include a bubble level.
