My deck is PL-705 which is a quartz direct drive variation on yours. These decks are well-kept secrets IMO, kind of 'wolves in sheeps' clothing' in that they look plasticky but are in fact solidly built to inarguably good specifications and actually cost quite a lot when new. Tonearm is a little quirky in that when your amp is muted you hear the music 'singing' off it acoustically; a phenomenon I guess they discovered in testing, so had to place that butt-ugly 'DRA' collar on there in an attempt to control it. I also disliked the kooky HOMC Pioneer cartridge it came with so I sold that and replaced with a vintage ADC QLM, very happy now with the performance of this machine!

Haven’t updated the setup in a while so figured I would. Currently running the 1210GR with a Shure V15 III w/ JICO SAS stylus (phenomenal) and a MoFi PrecisionDeck with the Nagaoka MP500. Recently switched out the ART 9XI and the Hana SL. Having a blast.

I'm in the market for tt lighting. My criteria seems to be too picky though. What'd you get?

Dang @daytona600! That looks incredible. Does it attract fingerprints like it looks like it might? What a rig!

I heard this table in the recent local hifi show with a DS Audio Grand Master Cart and it was sublime. I really love the look of it as well, congrats!

I figured I'd bump this thread, as I'll bet some of you are getting a new deck as a holiday present for yourselves. :)

Nothing changed much for me, mostly using a 3x7 nude elliptical on my DIY deck/arm. This is how I do most of my listening. Picture makes the platter look sloping, it ain't.

How do you like the MF M6X:
    - in general
    - with the Nagaoka mp500
    - VS the Luxman phono section?

Did you put the labels on the front of it?

Just another turntable bump with a small DIY component, this one sporting the usual MicroLine with the new Carla Dal Forno Come Around record on the platter, one of my big favorites this year (as linked in my signature)...

Yeah after the third time confusing which preamp was which, I said "eff it, I don't care how ugly it is just put a big label on it."

How much does the ceramic arm tube weigh by itself, just the ceramic?

The raw tube for the 10" arm probably weighs about 18g based on a slightly shorter piece I haven't used, it's 0.313" diameter and 0.047" wall thickness... ideally I wanted to use 8mm OD x 6mm ID like the size of the other materials I've used (or even thinner wall), and also the OD size of the stock aluminum arm, but the alumina ceramic only comes in 8mm x 5mm, which would be overkill, so I went with the .313" x .219" size available from McMaster-Carr which is fairly close ...

I have absolutely loved the ART9XI on my 1210GAE. There's now an ART9XA headed my way so I'll get to see if my Shibata love affair picks up where it left off.
