I know, my daughter uses the same one (with original mmc2). But underneath your beogram 3000 sits a beocenter 8500, right ?
I never heard of the ambiophonic unit and I have been into b&o pretty heavy for some years. I will have to look into that ! I still have my beolab 5000 wall panels (the 'Mondriaan' panels) put into storage for more than 10 years now. Moved house and no place for them to hang on the wall .
Was the thicker mat stock on the 1200GR? I read it is 6mm. Does this help with vta on this TT with the 440 you got on there?
Sorry for the stock photo, but I don't have a digital camera and neither does my phone. Anyway, I have a Transrotor Apollon (and just one tonearm, a 12" TR/SME).
I’m normally into understated simplicity but that is one beautiful turntable. Just gorgeous............in a complicated sort of way!
The stock mat on all the new models, GR included, is 3mm. I put a NOS 6mm Technics mat on my G, and I prefer the sound.
It changes the mid bass sound a bit. Maybe due to the weight? I just adjusted the VTA 3mm higher than before, so it should be the same.
Marantz table with their included cartridge. For the price, one of the best turntable deals possible.
I find these very sexy but in my place, a hinged dust cover is a necessity. Regardless of my limitations, congratulations on that stunning Marantz! It looks like a museum piece under that dust cover.
All cool, but an increase in thickness alone (same material) seems odd to me that it would affect the presentation.
One would think it wouldn't make a difference, but it does. I am surmising it's because it is considerably heavier. It sounds similar to using the stock 3mm mat with a weight, but a bit more open. I generally don't use the weight with that mat.
I was looking at the Marantz as well until I found my Pioneer a few posts above. Probably one of the best deals out there with the included cart.
A few pictures of my Micro Seiki BL-91 with MA-505X tonearm, and currently running with the Audio Technica AT-33PTG/II cartridge, just doing some service today - check out the size of that platter bearing ... still need to get a new belt, this one is kinda worn out and does a little shimmy coming off the pulley. But spinning the new Jane Weaver Loops in the Secret Society record and sounding good on the office/workshop system ..
