I also love Wish You Were Here since spinning the LP first time, but I only have 3 different copies on vinyl.^^
For some reason, that long intro with the synth pad is not boring or worth skipping. One knew that this is going to be great and worth sitting there and letting it do its things. It was an "event" record and had the presentation with the blue shrink wrap and the round sticker that just said "special event" to me.
I heard David Gilmour developed a hemorrhoid during lockdown and Polly Samson wrote a 10-page short story about it.
Which David turned into a musical, a performance of which by the Von Trapped Family Singers was livestreamed from the Gilmour back garden.
PINK FLOYD: A LIVE SOUND HISTORY - MARK CUNNINGHAM Exact publication date to be confirmed, but hopefully 2021 A new book is due to be published that should prove a fascinating insight into the audio side of Pink Floyd's development. Written by music industry expert Mark Cunningham, who used to run the magazine Total Production International, Pink Floyd: A Live Sound History is due at some point but to whet your appetites, Mark has given us a sneak preview of what's to come. The book will tell the story of how Pink Floyd pioneered live sound and how equipment manufacturers fought to keep up with the band's demands for better, bigger and higher quality, in tandem with their equally adventurous touring stage productions. It will feature rare images and exclusive interviews conducted by me with key touring personnel and industry figures including Robbie Williams, Phil Taylor, Mick Kluczynski, Andy Jackson, James Guthrie, Buford Jones, Charlie Watkins (WEM), Alan Parsons, Seth Goldman, Bryan Grant and more. A large portion of the manuscript was actually proof-read by Roger Waters who made comments that have informed the content. Solo tours up to and including The Wall Live will also feature, as a way of highlighting the further progression of live sound influenced by the Floyd. At this stage, a firm date isn't available, nor are pre-orders being invited. As soon as more information is available, we will of course update you... (Via Pink Floyd news :: Brain Damage - Home )
No but we learned from James Guthrie's interview with dCS Legends that he's "almost" done remixing The Wall for 5.1
David Gilmour has been photographed playing a black Stratocaster at home by Polly, and published on her Instagram page a couple of days ago. Conclusive proof that he is working on a new album. Rumours of marbles and scarfs have not been substantiated.
Maybe old news, but this was new to me: I didn’t know that Roger Waters was present at the backstage in Live Aid.
Just found this too. Wonder if Gilmour and Waters saw each other? I guess they were still in talking terms?
Pink Floyd: Knebworth 1990 remaster from The Later Years 1987-2014 getting standalone release - Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse
Lee Harris posts new "Live At Lee's" episode focusing on A Saucerful of Secrets - Pink Floyd - A Fleeting Glimpse
Wouldn't surprise me if the rest of the set is released separately over the next 12-18 months. Would be cool to get an expanded PULSE release, but that might tick off TLY box set owners.
Really feels like they just want to charge more for a 2LP than the audio quality being the main issue...
My wife completely loves Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast. Am pretty fond myself... Happy to see there is a little corner of Floydom that like marmalade ..... I like marmalade (Could not resist - apologies all)
The only way I can listen to Alan's Psychedelic Breakfast is if I replace it with Give Birth To A Smile.
Well...not sure if this has been posted in the other Floyd threads. So, apologies if it has. I just discovered it, and am super happy this exists. Enjoy. Oink, oink, woof, woof, Baaaaa!
Pretty jazzed to hear Their Mortal Remains will be hitting L.A. this August. Must see! Pink Floyd's Touring Museum Exhibit to Hit U.S This Year
