Sounds like Sting doesn't really like his old band ;)

I love the Police, but "adult contemporary jazz-fusion" is one of my favorite things.

The Sting version isn't bad for what it is, but it lacks the murky, haunting quality of the original that was so appropriate to the subject matter.

Given that "Every Breath You Take" is pretty much a pop music standard by this point, then no, I would say The Police are not a forgotten band.

What? You think the Police version is faster than the Sting solo version?

We have the radio on where I work and the bosses flip between the classic rock station, the oldies station and the "mellow blend" station.
I hear The Police several times a day. No chance of being forgotten.

This isn’t me trying to be holier than thou, but most people on this forum are severely out of touch with what is popular or whether or not something is popular among young people. Of course people know who the Police are. Everyone knows “Roxanne” and “Every Breath You Take” (it was in Stranger Things for crying out loud). They’re one of the most remembered acts of the 80s among teenagers

Great Band. Got on board immediately. Have all the LP's. Saw them on the Synchronicity tour. Very memorable.

I'm still very fond of The Police. They were among the very first bands I got into when I started to take an interest in music in the late 70's.

Reggatta De Blanc was one of the first albums I ever bought, and I still listen to it today. I still have most of their 7" singles in my collection, but for some reason, no idea why, all my vinyl LP's have long gone. Absolutely not a clue where they've gone over the years. I didn't pick up the recent reissues for some reason.

I think I mentioned it in another Police thread, but their five studio albums could really be doing with the proper deluxe treatment. Would love to see that happen sometime.

I think I like The Police more now than I did back in the day.

That recent vinyl boxset has hardly left the turntable.

Me too, in fact they are likely the first band I collected the complete catalog for while in high school (on cassette no less!). Granted this wasn't hard with just five studio albums.

I'm pretty sure most rock fans my age at least know their biggest songs. I would say they're not very forgotten, considering their fame peaked in the 80s.

My parents had a few of their CDs and played them all the time, so I know a lot of their music.

Was listening to Voices In My Head last night and Stewart's drumming on that song is just sick.

That track and "Shadows In The Rain" are both excellent deep cuts on ZM.

Listening to Live 2cd set at work today. I enjoy both gigs for different reasons.

Now we need an official ZM 1980 concert released!
