Kind of surprised that the forum has been quiet on this. The Righteous Gemstones started off with a 2 episode season debut and it's looking like all the pieces are there for a good sophmore season. Any show with Danny McBride has been a guilty pleasure of mine and this is my favorite John Goodman role since the Big Lebowski. Watched the 2 new available episodes, looking forward to more. Eric Roberts, very interesting character.
Couldn’t be happier! Thought I was watching it last night, turns out I was watching S1E1, as I never watched S1 in order (just random episodes). I love that niche Danny McBride fills. I would not be adverse to another round of Kenny Powers either.
Danny McBride and Jody Hill do such an amazing job with the casting for their shows. It’s often the side characters that have the best moments in their shows. I also like how they stick to a set amount of seasons and don’t drag their shows on and on to the point they wear out their welcome. That said, the actress that plays Judy Gemstone steals the show for me. She is amazing at playing awkward characters.
Yea there is something about her... after I watched Season 1, I watched all of Vice Principals, which I had never seen. She was in that as well. She's hilarious!
3 episodes in. Pretty fun but not quite up to Season 1 standards so far. Kelvin's God Squad isn't as funny as the amount of screen time it gets. Eric Roberts is a good addition but need a return of Uncle Baby Billy. Still, great to have it back.
I see the Gemstones will return for a season 3. I hope it’s a return to form because Season 2 isn’t up to the standards of Season 1. There’s still enough left to redeem it but, as of now, Season 2 is a big disappointment.
I think season 2 has been great! Seriously loving this show. Best show (of similar genre) on TV right now? Do share anything just as good!
Bovaries, ovaralls, and ninja stars, not to mention the opening sequence. Quite the episode last night.
Sunday night's season end was easily the best episode of the season. Tons of ridiculousness and laughs.
So the homage to “The Godfather” was intentional … or have I just seen “The Godfather” too many times?
A good series. I like these 2 season and done shows (like Vice Principals) that Danny McBride produces.
