This series had some of the funniest episodes along with drama. I loved Angel and episodes with Tom Selleck . The show that involved Tom, Beemer and the PI convention is a classic.
11 minutes of another great episode. Great moment from the 7:15 mark until the end. The whole clip is great though.
Thought I'd revive this thread as I finished watching the entire series, including all the later TV movies last night. What a great show. I feel kind of sad that it's all over. The entire cast was great but Jim Garner really shines IMO. There could be only one Rockford and it was him. I didn't think that the later day TV movies would hold up but I think they do. It was kind of neat to see some of the characters form previous casing showing up again. It was especially nice to see Gretchen Corbett back although she was underused in the TV movies. It was a shame she left the show after season 4. I was doing some googling and came across two reboot stories. One reboot actually went to air and another that said Vince Vaughn was slated to play Rockford in the reboot that never went anywhere. I'm grateful that I missed the first attempt and also grateful the second reboot never happened. I do like Vince but I can't see him playing Rockford.
Okay @eddiel , you bumped the thread, so I'm holding you responsible for yet another amazing TV-on-DVD box set bargain ! Just snagged the 2015 Complete Collection from a very-highly rated eBay seller...sealed...w/FREE shipping...75% off for only $59.49 !!!!!
Been watching it every night on local ME TV channel. I've seen more of it now than when it first aired.
The problem with the ME versions is that they are edited for time. Sometime key scenes or clever Rockford lines are cut out. If you have Netflix you can watch unedited versions of TRF and the picture quality is much better.
Hard to find accurate detail on this one, oddly enough. I didn't know the 8 TV movies were included until late last night ! As usual Amazon reviews were mostly BS, or written by inbreds. No reviews elsewhere either. .
I should have looked at the Amazon description first. Odd that the pilot is included on the Season Two discs, though. The inclusion of all of the later tv movies is a nice bonus. Special Features The Rockford Files: Season One: James Garner On-Camera Interview The Rockford Files: Season Two: Stephen J. Cannell On-Camera Interview Bonus Episode - The Rockford Files Series Pilot The Rockford Files: Season Three: Bonus Episode: "Quickie Nirvana" - An Episode From Season Four The Rockford Files: Season Four: America's Top Sleuths Bonus Episode: The Rockford Files "White on White and Nearly Perfect"
The timing couldn't have been worse for this, the first time around. 1974, I was 16, so I damn sure wasn't watching TV !!! Now, retired, and 57, it'll be perfect. .
How cool do you have to be to pour yourself a glass of milk, and a handful of cookies, in front of the 1975 model of Joan Van Ark ? Not a scotch, not a cigarette, but milk and cookies ! That's when you are you, and you don't care what other people think.
I was just thinking about this show and was wondering how you were progressing with your DVD viewing Myke. I really really miss this show. I finished up a couple of weeks back and don't have the heart to start another marathon for another show. It was a great series. I miss ol' Rockford. I might have to watch a few eps here and there to get me over the withdrawal.
I'm on Season 2. Also streaming Curb Your Enthusiasm on Amazon Prime, surfing the 'net, going outdoors occasionally, sleeping... I'm in no hurry to finish either, as I'm trying to spend less on entertainment these days, and appreciate what I already have. With 6+ more seasons, plus 8 TV movies to go, I'm sure it'll be awhile. .
ok here in Australia they have just rereleased the Rockford files on dvd remastered ( it is ! great picture quality ) but it seems a little bit faster than the last release anybody else have an issue with the speed it ? there is a clip of it here The Rockford Files: The Complete Season 1 (Newly Remastered) - DVD »
As I am currently "fence sitting" on the buying of this collection and there seems to be no online "reviews" of it (all that are to be found are some alleged "comments" online that are not very favourable), I have... Questions to answer, answers to question: Q1) Does anyone own The Rockford Files: The Complete Collection? Q2) If you do, have you opened it and played all of it's contents? Q3) If you have nodded in the affirmative to both Q1 and Q2, do you have any observations regarding it's contents and the way they are presented in the box set? In advance, thank you.
