Love the 66/67 Stones period best of all, because gems like flight 505, think, she smiled sweetly and connection are top tier often overshadowed by the hits
I would add that "Sitting on a Fence" is true gem of that period, lyrically and musically, that doesn't get its due. It's one of my all-time Stones faves. Even the sloppy guitar playing has a certain charm to it.
Absolutely! N.b. Check out the pristine & priceless footage of Mick and Keith working through Sitting On A Fence from the Super Deluxe Charlie Is My Darling set!
I was remiss in my OP in not mentioning Got Live If You Want It!. Released in December of 1966 it was the Stones first (mostly) live LP. Whether you view it as a forgettable mess or a proto-punk semi masterpiece, hope we can all agree upon the greatness of Charlie’s mustache captured in the picture that graces the back of the album. Where'd Bill’s go?
I've often noted that nine of my top 10 Stones songs date from 1965-67, with Time Waits for No One being the exception. Actually a sizable majority of my top 20 date from this period too. True or false: Andrew Oldham had a lot to do with it?
My favorite Stones albums from this period are Between The Buttons (both versions) & Flowers. Here's a video that someone cobbled up for the Between The Buttons outtake "Get Yourself Together", a song that I like very much:
Now flipping sides on this beauty...... Flowers 1967 The Rolling Stones Export UK Decca Stereo Cat: SKL 4888 Unboxed & Grooved Labels Pinched Spine & Polylined Company Inner

Read somewhere that Oldham locked Mick and Keith in a room and told them they couldn't come out until they wrote a song. If true , this is the best thing he did for them
Jumpsuit, I really didn't have a problem with but.. the football jersey and the kneepads?? definite fashion faux pas!
