I have their records, on CD, through It's Only Rock N Roll.
My favorites from them from the '70s would be live recordings with Mick Taylor.
Sticky Fingers was a great album.
I prefer their period with Brian Jones in the studio to their most acclaimed albums though.
Get Yer Ya-Ya's Out is a great live album. The unreleased Brussels Affair is the best live album I've heard of them. (not the released one)

I've never really understood the negative mindset towards the Stones seventies material to be honest.

    Get Your Ya-Ya's Out - A-
Great document of the guys. Really like it a lot.
    Sticky Fingers - A+
    A masterpiece and a favourite
    Exile On Main Street B+
Great album, but I don't think it is as great as most seem to.
    Goat's Head Soup B+
I reckon this is a great album too
    It's Only Rock N Roll - C
Love the title track, but the album leaves me a bit cold
    Black And Blue - A
I reckon this album is fantastic, and I have always found it strange that so many don't like it.
    Love You Live - B
This is a good album, but I did find it slightly disappointing. For some weird reason I prefer Still Life, and the Hampton Court bluray was a dream come true for me.
    Some Girls - A
I absolutely love this album, even though there are a couple of songs that aren't favourites, the overall album is one of my favourites.

I'm not good at rating stuff, but that's something like my votes for these albums.

For all of you "Angie" nay-sayers, here's proof opposing your position (of which I belong in the group that ranks it quite high in their discography)

To a decent degree, the Stones were a singles band from 1963-1967. Yeah, "Aftermath" is a good album, and I like a lot of "Between the Buttons", but otherwise you're cool with a compilation from that period.

1968 is when they started to consistently make solid albums - through 1972, at least. After that they became erratic...

The "negative mindset" only addresses the 1973-76 run. The other 3 studio albums have been regarded as classics for decades...

Remove "Sticky Fingers" and "Exile" and the 2 decades are comparable.

Both the post-1972 70s and the 80s had one strong album ("SG" and "TY") and a lot of iffy ones.

Though except for "DW", I'd listen to the iffy 80s albums over the iffy 70s albums...

The Stones never released a single less than 10/10 record between 1971 and 1978. The only problem is that 2 of these records were 11/10.

Not just that, Ya Ya’s a 1969 live recording and most of Tattoo You is from the 70’s.
I just go by release dates.
    Ya Ya’s is 1970, ER & TY are 1980, 1981.
    Too complicated = no fun.

This is accurate - they released three entirely mediocre records between 1971 and 1978!

' Black and Blue' is a fantastic album.
I admit it took a few years for me to ' get ' it but I was hooked when I did.
If someone said it was their favourite 70s Stones album I wouldn't argue it.Right near the top for me.

"Goats Head Soup" is my favorite Stones album and one of the best albums I've heard by anyone. Nothing but gems on it, especially "Can You Hear The Music" (one of the grooviest, yummiest tracks ever!). In my opinion their peak period really ends after "It's Only Rock 'n Roll." "Black and Blue" and "Some Girls" both have some terrific highlights, too. The Stones definitely DID NOT suck in the 70s.

I remember there was an actual commercial for Sucking in the 70's where the announcer kept repeating the title with difference emphasis:

    Sucking.....in the 70's
    Sucking in... the 70's

    over and over.

Except for a song or two , ' Some Girls ' has a real vibe to it. Hard to explain but it does.
' Shattered ' is incredible. One of their best songs.

Great deep track. No problem with it.
If there’s anything of 70’s Stones that’s below par for me it’s the two Jagger-o-fied ballads on IOR&R (you know the ones).

Sticky Fingers for me, in my all-time top 5 albums, not a bad track on it. Solid gold on every track.
