I looked around and can't find where I saw AM. If anyone out there know, please let us know.

Since you mentioned 704, do you know what he 501's and 704's mean? I assume they are later pressings, but my black label 80s pressing of 2112 has neither 501 or 704.

    New arrivals

I've had some new arrivals this week:

    Fly By Night
    Canadian
    Skyline Mercury Label
    Side A SRM-1-1023-A-CAN3 Masterdisk GK
    Side B SRM-1-1023-B-CAN3 Masterdisk GK

Same mastering as the first US pressing it looks like. By-tor wind chimes run on and on forever...

    Fly By Night
    German
    Blue Mercury Label
    Side 1 10 AA 9198633 1Y 320 H 1
    Side 2 10 AA 9198633 2Y 320 Q 1

Dead quiet. Does not sound as good as the GK to my ears though. By-tor chimes also run into the run out grooves.

    Caress Of Steel
    German Non gatefold
    Blue Mercury Label
    Side 1 10 AA 6338600 1Y 320 C 1
    Side 2 10 AA 6338600 2Y 320 B 1

Dead quiet also. Probably my best copy so far but I don't have a GK.

    2112
    US
    Skyline Mercury Label
    Side A T1 CT-A1-SRM-1-1079 JAMF L1
    Side B JAMF Sxt (upside down 2) 5? CS B5-SRM-1-1079 A

The JAMF sounds nice! Have not heard a GK of this but it has competition IMO.

    Moving along...

    All The World's A Stage

    Time to move ahead:

I have two copies of All The World's A Stage:

    All The World's A Stage
    US 0501 Non gatefold
    Black Mercury Label
    R1 Side A Masterdisk HW SRM-2-7508-A-PRC-R-2-1
    R1 Side D Masterdisk GK SRM-2-7508 D-PRC-1-11-111
    R2 Side B Masterdisk GK SRM-2-7506 B-PRC-1-11-1111
    R2 Side C Masterdisk GK SRM-2-7508 C-PRC 1-1

3 sides of GK. Can't go wrong there. I was surprised to see a black label GK. Anyone else out there seen any?

    All The World's A Stage
    US
    Skyline Mercury Label
    R1 Side A T3 SRM-2-7508 A-2 CT JAMF A1
    R1 Side D SRM-2-7508 D-CT8 1 \T Masterdisk GK 2A
    R2 Side B T1 SRM-2-7508-B2 CT JAMF C8
    R2 Side C SRM-2-7508 C-CT7 \T Masterdisk GK L6

Two JAMF sides and two GK's. Also nice. I'm in the process of comparing the side B JAMF to the GK. They are pretty close with no clear winner to me.

OK everybody, what do you have?

Interesting. I'd be curious to compare the sound of that one with my Anthem Fly By Night (Can.) ANR-11002-A-1A-2HZ: DM 10 / ANR-11002-B-1A-2HZ: DM 14. Is there a way of knowing when either of these were pressed?

I believe that a previous poster identified the "DM" designation in the deadwax as Don Mills, Ont..

The first Rush record to be released on Anthem was A Farewell To Kings. At that time also, the first 5 Rush albums were re-issued on Anthem. That would make your pressing sometime during or after 1977. Mine would be 1975 - 1977 era.

Is yours distributed by Capitol or Polydor? That will help us date it further.

Different mastering than the GK then it seems? If so, was it done at Don Mills or elsewhere and if yes by whom?

I'm on the hunt now for a Canadian Mercury GK 'Fly by Night'! :righton:

1981.--In a related note, the first black label I ever saw was the Bob & Doug McKenzie "Take Off" single.I hung out in a record store at the time (no,really!):D---when the new stuff came in,I often helped file, since I knew the store,anyway.--First batch was skyline, second batch was black.

Are you talking about the old Mercury red label with the 13 or so Mercury logos going around the outer rim? If so, I have a Canadian but I've never seen an American.

    Sorry i came in late!

This is the info I have for Rush S/T (Skyline, USA), which I think hasn't appeared here yet:
Side A:SRM-1-101I-A-CTI 2(?)T Masterdisk G.K. (No "7" appears on this copy, asi t did on someone elses)
Side B:SRM-1-101I-B-CTI 1T Masterdisk G.K. (on the opposite site where SRM... appears is a capital letter "B"

    Question-
My copy has a pasted back cover, how many of you have the same?

    Also different from Saudr00:

    Fly By Night

    Skyline Mercury Label
    Side A SRM-1-1023-A-CT1 \T Masterdisk GK C
    Side B SRM-1-1023-B-CT2 \T Masterdisk GK D

NOTE: Chimes at end of "By-Tor" will play without stopping.

    Different again:
    Caress Of Steel
    US
    Skyline Mercury Label
    Side A T1 SRM-1-1046 A2 CT D
    Side B T2 SRM-1-1046 B6 SX B

Just fine. It looks brand new, not a scuff or mark on it. I wish I had a regular pressing to compare though.

    A Farewell To Kings

    OK. Time to move on.

    A Farewell To Kings

    I have 3:

    A Farewell To Kings
    US
    Skyline Mercury Label
    Side One SRM-1-1184 CP A6 JAMF A
Side Two SRM-1-1184 CP B6 JAMF

This one sounds great. Would love to compare to GK.

    A Farewell To Kings
    US
    Black Mercury Label
    Side A Masterdisk HW A-4 (triangle) SRM-1-1184-A-K
    Side B Masterdisk AM B-1 (symbol?) SRM-1-1184-BS-HRM1

    Not so good.

    A Farewell To Kings
    US
    Black Mercury Label
    Side One SRM-1-1184-A-PRC-R-1-1-111-?1 MASTERKISK HW
    Side Two SRM-1-1184-B-PRC-R-1-1-4-61 MASTERKISK HW

    Hate it.

I have the German pressing on order. I'll post comments when I receive it.

    Time to chime in...

    Canadian pressing
    Anthem label - blue tones

Side 1: ANR-11010-A TLC-A script "GC" (again) also machine stamped circle within circle
Side 2: ANR-11010-B TLC-A script "GC" (again) also machine stamped circle within circle

Liner notes state: Mastered at JAMF, Toronto by George Graves.

I would imagine that this information is changed in the US edition if it was mastered by someone else... or did they just reproduce the same info in the US sleeve? I wonder if the mysterious script initials are actually GG for George Graves?

    Cheers,
    Chris
