I used to think I had no emotional reaction to the 'internet', I'm a pretty hard/stubborn/you pick an adjective man. But I don't like upsetting you guys, it makes me feel 'stupid', especially over nothing, opinion, etc.
    I think who the h@!! am I.

I get too involved and forget there is another human on the other end even though I'm interfacing over a computer.

FWIW I like it all, from the basic to the technical. I have learned a lot in this thread and not even an owner of a "1200".

    Lol
    I doubt that
You seem gentle, but your strength is your mind.
I bet I could (and have) learn a thing or two from you.
I've gotten where I am by seeking out those smarter than me.

I'll beat you to it, I know, that's a pretty big pool. :)

I worked Madison for a month. We put a process control system in a large bakery.
It was BITTER cold. And I lived in AK.

True story, one of my HS buddies taught at U of WI, the only person I knew with more raw intelligence than him was his brother (BS in math/physics/comp sci in ONE year at PITT, he challenged exams, MS in physics from Cornell) but I digress. He taught biochemistry.
He looks like aqualung, long trench coat, etc.
    No shyte.

I meet him at the SU and he's smoking hash with 2 of his former students. He asks me if I want to partake. Nope, you'll get a ride home, I'll get a ride to the hoosegow. Lol
Next time I saw him was after his wife passed away from cancer, tragic.

    Smarter is just a word.
Mo' educated or experienced may be a different matter.
    Still, many things factor in.
Luckily I not been troubled with this dellemma as I'm not well educated on any subject.
This enables me to go free form!:pineapple:

Never noticed that King Crimsom, classic
He did NOT call people creepy iirc, just the tone of the content. Creepy may be generous.

dang it @TheVinylAddict , should have read all the posts! Lol

Let us address this, did I use the word 'creepy" correctly? Well definitely not.
And how is cover art of a classic/iconic album considered creepy on a music forum?
Anyhoo, I apologize for using that word.
Can I change it to petty? Insignificant ?
Again, my apologies to those inpacted.
    I'll leave it at that.

Just mounted my new MP-200. First MM I've had in a while but it sounds really good! It's standing in for my Zu DL-103R until I get the latter retipped.

Not sure why Nagaoka puts the cantilever so far back into the body—I can't get close enough to see it with my 10x loupe, thanks to the big purple box in the way. (And why don't all cartridges come with threaded holes?)

But no complaints once I got it aligned! Really nice sounding cartridge, extremely quiet in the groove too. I just played a 1981 Miles Davis press and a 1983 New Order 12" and didn't hear a single pop or crackle across either of them, even in the quietest sections.

Does anything beat the feeling of listening to your favorite records with something new in your system?

Same here, but there’s something called off topic for a reason ;)

There is a certain level where providing relevant measurements are of interest. But turning this thread into another edition of 'Audio Science Review' is outside the spirit of the thread especially as it's now involving products other than Technics turntables. Keep it directly related to the subject such as TT speed accuracy if you must show us how clever you are. Thanks.

I've recently learned that a new cartridge can be an eye (ear and mind expander lol) opener.
    VM540 ML in my case.

I can see why some have more than a few that they rotate.

Really no need for judgement and snarky backhanded insults is there?

You post as you like, others will do the same within the discretion of the mods.
Please stay on topic, SOMETHING audio related vs. personal attacks and commentary.
    Thanks

OT is for stuff non-audio related.
ALL of the stuff some find objectionable IS audio related.

One thing I learned that stands out is something @JP pointed out: thermal noise generated by the cartridge. It typically dwarfs system noise, can't be eliminated, but by careful system integration can be minimized.
Lower gain, lower cartridge R, higher output seems to minimize.
But not if you don't know about it.

    Ah my bad lol

Yes that never occurred to me either.
I always knew it solely as an issue with radio receivers.

I was OK until this point. There may well be just as many or more folk interested in the place of manufacture as there are interested in very technical discussions.

That is OK, that is your right.
    And you may be right.
