90's were a fantastic decade once Brit-pop took off around '91/'92. Started to fizzle towards the end of the decade chart wise with Britney and her horrible ilk

Don’t think Time was added to the album here. At least it’s not on my copy…

It was included as a bonus track on the 2003 remastered CD though

Parade was fine but the melodies just weren't as strong as the previous albums. It sold well which is what Spandau wanted at the time.

'I'll Fly For You' is the best track on Parade, I reckon. But yes, they certainly weren't diverting from the formula after hitting paydirt with True. Or maybe they got a bit lazy.

I loved the singles from the first album but it was great when Spandau added the Beggar & Co horns and some funk to their sound with 'Chant No. 1'. Shame they never took a risk like this again.

You can’t blame them for going in the direction they did. They’d just had the 2 biggest hits of their career. They’d have been fools to change the formula.:)

I liked Parade. Bought it on LP and cassette. But when I look back at 1984, it’s not one of the highlights

Ordered this from Amazon last night. Only £4. I don’t have many 80s comps, but do you agree this is a good one?

I’m hoping that the tracks are the original versions though. No one wants redos.:)

Parade had a great cover. And the sleeves for the four singles were very striking too.

I felt that the melodies were there, but the lyrics at times were either nonsensical or just not up to snuff for me. That doesn’t prevent me loving the record, however!

Parade is probably my favourite of theirs. Love the set on The Tube- Highly Strung, Always In The Back Of My Mind & Revenge For Love.
Live Aid though, don't know who thought playing a yet-to-be-released song was a good idea.

It’s got Tarzan Boy and Shaddup You Face, what’s not to like?

That single was a brilliant move forward just as things were getting stale.
I also loved the Trevor Horn version of Instinction.

A lot of the songs here are not exactly the obvious ones you would expect. "What?" instead of "Tainted Love" & "John Wayne Is Big Leggy" instead of "Shiny Shiny" for example. Jive Bunny is nicely placed so you can hit eject as soon as the Bros song ends :)

It's the first 80s compilation where I've seen 'The Gap' as the chosen Thompson Twins song. I like that it doesn't (always) go for the most obvious hits.

I thought it was a nice selection. Especially for the price. Seems to have good reviews too.

That's an.....interesting....80s comp. But strangely gives a more accurate representation of what the UK charts were like in those years for a lot of the public.

It has quite a few songs I don’t have on CD. Break My Stride, for example

The run of Don Quixote > Change > The Gap suggests someone took some trouble with this.

Or just couldn’t get permission for the bigger hits.:D

I was oddly pleased to see Hi-Fidelity too. The only Kids from Fame song I liked!

This is the 90s/2000s, but I was never really a Britney fan. Though the Circus album is excellent.

However her My Prerogative hits comp is wonderful!

Or as Benny Hill would have malapropped that, "My Purgative."

Whatever the reason it's refreshing not to see the same old songs (as great as they are) Don't think I've ever seen "The Gap" on an 80's comp

Was it even a single in the U.K.? I can’t remember.

Would've been a hoot if The Escape Club's "Wild Wild West" were on that comp - as I've said, this was a #1 hit in the U.S., never charted in UK!

No but it was a minor hit in Germany and the US
