First time I've heard that. There's a similarity, for sure. Not a blatant nick, but you could put it in the "makes you go hmmm" pile, like, say "Love Removal Machine" & "Start Me Up". On the Zep front, has anyone seen the speculation that a flurry of copyright strikes on YouTube is the harbinger of an imminent live release? The strikes seem to focus on live recordings from April '69 to the end of the third US tour (August).
Jimmy Page & The Black Crowes - Live At The Greek Hearing the multiple guitar parts come to life is worth the price of admission alone.
Actually, the solo was giving him a lot of trouble and it was definitely not done in a single take. He even said in an interview that he was not fully satisfied with it. That being said, it's probably some of the finest electric guitar playing ever recorded.
The second to final Led Zeppelin concert performed Jult 5,1980 in Munich Germany is one of my all time favorites.Funny enough this is one of the only shows not to have a soundboard in circulation.I have a mix of two audience recordings that gives the complete gig.Even nor being a soundboard I have so much fun listening to this unique show from start to finish.
Has anyone ever looked cooler up on a stage with an electric guitar than Jimmy Page circa 1973? I say no. My runner-up would be Pete Townshend in 1969.
Please, let's not flush this thread straight down the toilet by re-hashing mastering arguments for the 1000th time. There's plenty of other Zep threads devoted to arguing about that already, this one is just fine the way it is.
Oh man yeah that is a fantastic album. I love hearing Ten Years Gone with all the guitar parts being played live. Steve Gorman is my favorite non-Bonzo person to perform Zeppelin tunes on drums too, he has "the" feel
I`m still salivating over what on earth Page was going to put out over "ten years".You have to be wondering at least how far he got in planning, even production.I let it go for a while then really thinking about possibilities again.
Anyone think there's a more sister album combo than Zeppelin I & II? There's something magical about those two albums but played back to back or as a mix and match playlist it extends that unique 69 Zeppelin vibe. They never quite sounded the same in the studio again. As early as Zeppelin III there were subtle and at times obvious changes in Plant's vocals as well as their overall musical approach.
I still believe a fair bit of what was planned this year will eventually come out but has been stalled by byzantine internal band politics. I speculate ..... (no inside info whatsoever, just speculation) European live album - Montreux (the thing Jimmy said was "a different perspective from previous live releases") Expanded Knebworth as standalone release Expanded Earls Court '75 Some form of Japan '71 album. Southampton '73 I fear is a non runner due to Plant's voice not being in the best condition. Page is always careful in the way he uses words, and he specifically said the 2014 remasters meant there was nothing more in the vaults "from a studio perspective". That to me means there is more (or he's keeping his options open) from a live point of view.
