I think this counts as flute-like.

Not sure if this is a sample or an actual instrument, but I love the pennywhistles in this Noel Gallagher tune...the lyrics may be kinda silly, but I think it's a great rollicking stomper, and insidiously catchy.

Piccolos seem to have been popular during the Sgt Pepper era, one example is the end of "King Midas In Reverse" by the Hollies,

An absolutely beautiful piccolo solo during the Association's "No Fair at All", at least I think it's either a piccolo or an ocarina,

Chris Wood is probably my favorite rock flute player, one of his best ones is Traffic's "Freedom Rider", love how he keeps the rhythm going while he is playing his solo. The rest of the band on this song is phenomenal as well

I think the technical term is "flautist", but it does sound kind of weird doesn't it?:p:p

Flautist Bud Shank added his touch to Gene Clark's quasi-Byrds reunion track, 'She's the Kind of Girl'; over a decade later he added flute to Gene's 'Blue Raven,' after Jim Dickson decided to replace David Sanborn's saxophone. This sax mix, championed by producer/drummer Andy Kandanes, has never surfaced.

Grannie were a five piece band from east London UK who released their one and only self-titled album in 1971 and issued on vinyl in a total pressing of just 99 copies. Record Collector magazine once included it in their list of the 100 Most Valuable Records of All Time.

It's all over the Táin, which I'm just listening to for the first time ever, a great album so far.

I'm sure I also hear whistle, and something that sounds like recorder too.

I’m sure The Beach Boys have plenty, but what about this lovely piece of flute in ‘I’m So Young’ (Alrernate take)?

I know it's not rock, but this was part of my childhood on channel 2 (WCBS in NJ/NY) during the morning cartoons, skip to 1:54 for the one I used to see all the time. Prominent flute in that song, very 1970's

Heat Exchange. OK, this is a bit obscure (early '70s Canadian pop/prog hybrid thing), but I picked it up on spec about a year ago, and it has plenty of flute-rock on it; hell, there's even a picture of the flautist on the cover. It's not all top-drawer stuff, but there's some great playing and more than a few good tunes within.

There's flutes during the orchestra part of 'Little Lamb Dragonfly' by Wings (I think).

I can't believe this didn't occur to me till just now.

I just posted this record to the "One-Hit Wonders" thread, as it was the B-side to a genuine one-hit wonder, "Little Girl."

Here is "You" by The Syndicate of Sound, one of my favorite B-sides of all time, and one that features flute prominently throughout, including on the solo.

That would be a recorder, played by Association member Terry Kirkman, who also played it on "Along Comes Mary" and other Association tracks.

I know Herbie Mann was jazz but his stuff is so all over the place. Such a long career with many styles. Some of it really was rock like.

The above mention of Memphis Underground stuff is rocky i think.

Only 8 posts apart, that has to be close to a record

(One or two apart don't count mind you, on account of cross-posting)
