He was crazy when Rick found him the second time, in the deserted town.

I think there are many of us hoping that it returns to its previous highs.

FWIW - I'm a huge fan, been watching since day one. Also watch Fear as well. Love the central characters and the general tone and whole concept. Enjoyed most of last season. BUT this season has been so poor, the decisions the people are making make no sense, the motivations for various people just don't ring true and events seem to happen off camera that seem unlikely. I actually started counting how many saviours had been killed or captured and it's a huge number.

Rick's plan was stupid and overly complicated. There is no way a few walkers would present an issue for the saviours who are well armed. Why didn't they just shoot Negan when he came out? They had snipers that took out people on top of the building, why not just shoot Negan when they had the chance? Why anyway, as he has promised to kill him so may times, has Rick not been already killed by Negan. You don't leave the leader in place. In previous seasons the actions have been logical and lead to logical results, but the whole Negan/Rick 'total war' thing has been handled so badly it really stretches credibility. Why work Rick go back to the Junkyard Posse for help when he knows they can't be trusted, makes no sense. And he wouldn't have surrendered to them as for all he knows they would just kill him. He's not Batman or something.

It feels like 'survivor porn' - how much pain and suffering can you inflict on these people the audience loves.

Comics are for me a superior format to a TV series in that you have more scope, not limited by budget or any ratings considerations. A comic can go on forever but obviously a TV show can't, even the best run their course. I hope in my heart they pull this around and I can enjoy many great seasons in the future but I just don't know where the story can go, where the end point is. Society falls apart, they fight the walkers then they fight amongst themselves and then what?

How you maintain a show like this with no 'end point' to work towards is difficult but there are some things they can do - have characters that are well developed that we care about that make logical realistic choices that we would, that are not constantly changing their nature, and place them in interesting situations that make internal sense to the show.

But it's not real. It's a TV show.

fmfxray373 Capitol LPs in the 70s were pretty good.

The Walking Dead is an existential motif in which nothing is getting better. It is just a very long remake of They Shoot Horses, Don't They?

But even a TV show has to maintain an internal logic/credibility, it's very very basic story telling - you develop a character and he/she acts and behaves in the way you have established him/her.

As a viewer you have to buy in to what's happening so you care what happens.

Just an OK episode. I'm glad it's over and we can move on, hopefully in a more interesting direction. This season has been a slog.

Anyone who still thinks this show is on par with the first few seasons is either lying to themselves or not really paying attention to what they are watching...imo.

I may bail soon. It's never going to get better and it is getting same old same old. After Neagan, there will be some other bad guy. I know the comic is like that too but I don't read it.
They just keep going around and around in circles in the greater Atlanta area.

However, I would be in for a Walking Dead does Key West season. :D

They have just spent around 7 seasons just wandering around in the woods haven't they. I know it's cheap to do that (the awful Inhumans did that as well) but they should have a bigger budget (perhaps it all goes on wages and effects). But visually it can't help make the show a bit boring if it all looks like they film all of it within a one mile radius. It would be cool to visit some different places.

I guess I'm a big sissy, I had to switch channels for the first time ever, I couldn't bear to watch what was happening. I've been watching since season 1, ep 1, was sick many times but, never more disturbed as I was for this season opener....2 thumbs down, crap! ****! Damn them!!!!!

Yeah, I was hoping for the occasional "Very Special Episode" where they pack up the whole group and take a frolicing trip to France, where hilarity and romance ensues.

Best survival tactic is to find an island...never understood why camping in the forest is a good idea in a zombie Apocalypse.

  15. Nah, best survival tactic is to head just far enough North for a good freeze so that the zombies die of exposure.

Not sure what scene you're referring to...nothing in Sundays episode (even Morgans intestine scene) compares the Glenns 'eye' from last years season opener.

This has been my major confusion over the last several seasons. Why is our group even STAYING in the Georgia/Virginia area. It's a big country. Go to another state to get away
from all of the Negans/Governors/etc. and find a new location somewhere else.
    Try Wisconsin.....

I really don't see why the zombies wouldn't just freeze solid if it were cold enough. Head far enough north and it would eventually end up zombie-free for part of the year.

    Michael I LOVE WIDE S-T-E-R-E-O!

every time I read a fan crying over the loss of a character it freaks me out...do these ppl know it's a TV show and all fantasy? WTF has happened to ppl? LOL! I was bitching to my wife how they dragged out the last one to go on last weeks episode...my wife agreed...the fantasy dream of the future was cool with Negan...
we're in till the end as nothing can be worse than the 6 years wasted on that Lost swill...

    Michael I LOVE WIDE S-T-E-R-E-O!

Morgan is the only one worthy on the show...he's the real deal and understands what has to be done...kill 'em all take no prisoners if you want to survive the madness...he did a complete turn around and switched to the other side and rightly do...Morgan is a God. I love his character most...would want him in my corner...
