Ha,ha yeah. Following The Who for all these years could never be described as "relaxing". But still they move me and inspire me like no other band.
Duly noted. Just a bit sceptical judging from some of the things I’ve read here, it’s just my nature!
Aside from this one, Frisco 71 and Philly 73, what else would you people enjoy seeing released? Personally: - Swansea 1976 - something from 1972 (any tips? haven't heard anything) - Charlton 1974
Swansea ‘76 complete and Philly ‘73 complete, definitely yes. Not crazy about Charlton ‘74, but certainly would acquire it if it was released. I also wouldn’t mind seeing some of the non-Tommy live tracks released from the 1969 live tapes.
Hopefully they will release both nights of San Francisco together (12/12/71 & 12/13/71), and both Philly ‘73 & Largo ‘73 together. There’s the rumored Stockholm, Sweden 1972 recording where many believe that Magic Bus on VFABSP is from, and Charlton ‘74 as you’ve mentioned would be fine too. I also would be fine with those two pro recorded Philadelphia 1979 concerts as well!
Was anything from 1980 recorded professionaly? I know the '81 Rockapalast gig, and those 1979 gigs are great! Their best performances with Kenney
Only as soundboard reference tapes for the band, but nothing multitrack that I’m aware of - the same with 1981.
Nothing more to contribute other than I'm very excited! This might be the 'holy grail' Who release for me. I've wanted an improved version of these Fillmore East shows more than anything else known to exist in their vault. 1968 is my favorite year for the Who live, and has been ever since I saw them in 'the Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus'!
I had given up on them releasing any Moon era shows. This would not have been my first pick but excited to have it.Now hoping this is not a one off.
YEEEEEEEEEAAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!! Finally something we wanted! Now we just need a full 1973 show from the Quadrophenia tour and I'm happy.
It is a 50 year copyright thing. I expect many more will follow over the succeeding years. I would assume the full Woodstock set and more of the 1969 live tapes that were sampled in the Tommy box will see release next year.
This new release has the potential to be, in my opinion, the most important Who release since the 1995 expanded Live at Leeds. This is definitely one of the best silver boots I ever picked up.
But The Who didn't use their equipment so they were under amped and don't sound like their normal powerful self.
Definitely looking forward to this release. I am also hoping that the complete Woodstock performance will be released next year.
Saw them in 69 at Fillmore West and 70 at Berkeley which was amazing. I was 10 feet in front of Pete. Stunning.
I went one of those nights ( can’t remember which one) and thought they sounded lousy in the room. I know one one of nights is supposed to be truly loved by fans.
