Some might consider Empty Glass to be on par with Quadrophenia. IMO, it isn't but, it's not that far off.

More than awesome... Incredible. Pete's solo stuff has no duds.

    I don't know about that!
"Iron Man" - Some good songs on it, I believe, but not that great.

I was just listening to The Iron Man last night. Not one of his top efforts, but there is some really tasty guitar work all through that album.

Was There Life is one of his best songs.

I don't think that every song on every album has to be a number one hit. I like his solo stuff. He's so honest and I appreciate that and I appreciate his effort over all of these years.

I thought the mini-opera in Endless Wire was solid (a step above Psychoderelict), but most of the rest was forgettable. But the two new songs on Now & Then were some of the best post-Moon Who out there. In my opinion, of course.

Don't get me wrong, I've enjoyed Pete's solo albums very much. I wish he made some more after "Psychoderelict"!
Of course, not every song has to be a #1 hit- that would be very extreme! Out of all his albums, "Iron Man" just never connected with me.

Old Red Wine brought a tear to my eye when I first heard the main part of the song, then a scream to my lungs at the end of the “rave up” outtro.

The Iron Man is worth it for "Dig" - one of my favorite Who songs, and certainly my favorite post-Who Are You.

I agree on Real Good Looking Boy. I didn't actually hear this until I got The Who Hits 50, but that and It's Not Enough are two of my favorite post-Moon Who songs.

If you've only heard Real Good Looking Boy on The Who Hit 50, I'd recommend listening to the full version on Maximum As & B's. The edit on single version is rather jarring in my opinion.

Yep - up there in the appalling butchery stakes with the single edit of "Won't Get Fooled Again" and the US Elektra of Queen's "Liar" and "It's Late".

I think "Real Good Looking Boy" and "Old Red Wine" were the first two songs I ever purchased from iTunes. (Who needed the album?) A new album on par with those two songs would be more than enough for me.

I have heard that, and I was surprised there was more to the song.

And we've got a second MSG date in September... I joined the fan club after the first batch of pre-sale codes were released in January, so I'm hoping they'll send another email with a link prior to onsale tomorrow. I've decided the only way I'll do this again is if I can manage really, really good seats.

I think the edit to "Old Red Wine" is a HUGE improvement--the original interlude just forces an already leaden song to grind to a halt. :( -E

When I saw them a couple weeks back, Pete was playing with a fire I had never witnessed - not even on the 2000 tour when John was still thumping away.

And Roger’s vocals were the best I’d heard live since 2000 for sure. Maybe even better than.

So given the real kick up the rear these guys have demonstrated as of late, I look forward to the album and trust that there is some of the same fire in the new tracks.
