May they keep "embarrassing" themselves like this for a few more years. :)

Sorry, can't go through the whole thread to find the info, but: Is the album still a thing or has it been scuttled?

not scuttled, Pete Townshend stated during the recent concert the new album will come out late fall prior to the Christmas shopping season.

On the "Drowned" continuum definitely a couple notches closer to The Secret Policeman's Ball and away from the "In the Ether"-esque versions. It's not 1979 all over again, but it is still genius.

Too bad the days of trying out new songs in concert before they come out on an album are in the past. It'd be so cool to hear some new songs on this tour.

When I bought my ticket for next week's show it said a copy of the new album would be sent once it is released. I'll believe it when I see it.

So the cellist and violinist are actually on tour with them and the orchestra is a local outfit in each city. Like what I read about the concert.

That is correct. The cellist also serves as the "librarian". She transports the sheet music and distributes/collects it at each show.

How has Peter Wolf gone over as a large venue opening act? His current band is fantastic in small halls but, unlike his J. Geils work, I’m curious if it translates.

Can't speak for this tour, but I saw him open for Bob Seger a few years ago and he was great. It was the same arena where The Who are playing (sadly, without him when they come here).

Thanks for sharing that. I saw them in Virginia on the third night of the tour and loved the show. Roger is indeed in terrific voice. Pete sang well, too, at the Virginia show--sorry to hear he's taken ill. Get well soon, Pete!

I missed J Geils opening for the Who in a stadium in 1980 - arrived too late.
I did see them open for Seger a few years ago in an arena which was great.
Wolf solo I have only seen in a club.

I’ve been reading their concert reviews. All of The Who’s shows have been positive. They put on a great show.

It's done, and it was handed into their record company. The record company decided to push the released date to Oct/Nov. But it's done and still scheduled for release.

Roger says it's great work, and Pete says Roger sounds great on it. Take that for what it's worth.

They are not likely to play anything from the album on their current tour leg, but they might slot in a song once tracks from the album start getting issued in advance of the album.
