I heard about this from a Who insider, round about the time of WHO 2019, and I said really ? It's been reissued twice in deluxe form, is there anything left we haven't already heard ? The friend replied "Tons of stuff tons" as I recall. Bear in mind this was just a few words between acquaintances, but the person knew I meant "other' songs new to us. So frankly I expect several.
To justify 7 discs, I'd want at least 70 minutes of extra material to comprise "tons". And real new stuff, not Mary Anne with Shaky Hands with 2 extra seconds of guitar or whatever.
Is it possible this could feature something like the Kinks Arthur box and offer a reconstruction of the "Who's For Tennis" album? or something? Arthur had the "lost" Dave Davies solo album included....
Unless there's some secret stash of Who 67 stuff, i can't see how they will fill 7 discs.... 1 bonus track per disc
Is it possible this could feature new audio of Ray and Dave Davies sitting around a kitchen sink reflecting on their impressions of The Who Sell Out?
If I had to guess, 1 stereo LP, 1 mono LP, 1 stereo CD, 1 mono CD, 1 bonus track LP, 1 bonus track CD, 1 Blu-Ray with the stereo and mono mixes and the bonus tracks.
I may be in the minority but unless we get AAA vinyl issues of the mono and stereo albums, I will not be buying this. I’ve spent more than enough on digital variants of Sell Out.
The bonus Townshend demos, some utterly fantastic, others interesting, most mediocre to forgettable should stick with the Scoop series IMHO. Hearing more from the band would really be great.
Disc One: Stereo LP Disc Two: Mono LP Disc Three: Bonus Tracks Disc Four: The Complete Rotosound Strings Sessions Disc Five: The Complete Radio London Reminds You Go To The Church of Your Choice Vocal Rehearsal Sessions Disc Six: Coke After Coke After Coke After Coca Cola / Hall of the Mountain King Jam Session Disc Seven: Pete, Roger, John, and Keith Arguing In The Studio Outtakes
Here’s what I’m thinking (no confirmation yet) Disc 1 mono + mono bonus tracks Disc 2 stereo + stereo bonus tracks Disc 3 Pete’s demos Disc 4 Pete’s demos Disc 5 1967 live material Disc 6 1967 live material Disc 7 BluRay with Atmos mix and documentary
Where is there any evidence that 2 discs worth of live material exists? And as noted above, a surround mix isn’t likely.
