There's plenty of talk about the "sophomore slump", but it doesn't always happen! List your picks where you feel a band bettered their debut, and maybe never equaled it again. My choices: The Cars - Candy-O Crowded House - Temple of Low Men Coldplay - A Rush of Blood To The Head Dan
Rio - Duran Duran Diamond - Spandau Ballet What's The Story Morning Glory - Oasis Parsley Sage Rosemary and Thyme - Simon & Garfunkel Disagree on Crowded House their best is Woodface IMO
Most people like his first one best and it's a very good album but John Prine's second album Diamonds In The Rough is by far my favorite. It's different from the first and the ones that follow, more acoustic and kind of 'folky'.
Echo & The Bunnymen - Heaven Up Here Elvis Costello - This Year's Model Both exceeded their promising debut LPs, IMO.
Morning Glory - Oasis Dirt - Alice In Chains Strange Days - The Doors Live Through This - Hole Doolittle - Pixies The Color & The Shape - Foo Fighters Siamese Dream - Smashing Pumpkins
PSMT is their third. I also disagree with the OP on Crowded House - my fave is Intriguer followed by Woodface. I never liked Temple much, mainly because I think "Better Be Home Soon" is an extremely lame song.
Jethro Tull - Stand Up There are those who feel it is the best thing they ever did. On occasion, I am swayed in this direcction.
Neil Young, Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere. First album was a stinker, but the second was arguably his best.
