May is also a good one for rhymes, but it hasn't been a popular name since probably before WWI

Jane doesn't end in a vowel, but is a pretty good rhyme name

I am duly corrected. Only knew the Steppenwolf version and was too lazy to look up the writing credits before I posted.

    It's easily rhymeable.

Many many rock groups and singers sourced their material from R&B and soul records, groups, singers, etc.
I recommend "the Atlantic Rhythm and Blues" box set as a great introduction to this music and artists.
Individual collections by Wilson Pickett, Otis Redding, James Brown, Aretha Franklin, Solomon Burke, etc. will
often have the original versions covered by mainstream rock acts.
Also I recommend anthologies of the King, Vee Jay, Stax, Hi record labels among others...
    Motown also, of course.

  7. Not to mention that "Mary Lou" gets the same rhyming-benefits as "Sue". :)

One time I counted if I love more songs with Sue or with Diane. Results:
Sue (3) -"Runaround Sue" by Dion; "Crocodile Rock" by Elton John; "A Boy Named Sue" by Johnny Cash
Diane (3)- "Diana" by Paul Anka; "Oh Diane" by Fleetwood Mac; "Jack and Diane" by John Mellencamp

(HM to Roxanne/Rosanna - with two songs that I love - by The Police and Toto)
