Man, I hear ya! No 1/2 hr shows before or since taught me more valuable life lessons than Sanford and Son and All In The Family... Doubt we will ever be blessed again to have such genius in sitcom shows again, but who knows?
One thing I liked that will never happen again is when networks would air a Movie of the Week which was actually a pilot (or became a pilot if it was successful) for a television series. As a kid I really liked the Six Million Dollar Man "movie" and I was thrilled when they turned it into a series months later. It seemed like a good way to judge how successful a series might be before committing to making it a series. These days the pilot is only seen by the network before they commit to making at least six episodes.
You don't see a blue eyed, blonde haired actor playing the son of Mexican parents anymore as you did in The Streets of San Francisco..
It's almost like a majority white country is going to make majority white shows the most popular. You realize why practically every show from 1950-1970 was predominantly white, right?
My favorite was the night stalker with Darren McGavin and best of all is Gerry Andersons UFO. I really like Strek trek with Shatner but I picked UFO. I love Ed Bishop!
Episode teasers for hour long action/adventure and crime drama shows that would air before the show’s theme song. Back when TV networks actually invested the time, money and musical talent to produce cool and iconic television theme songs. Those were the days…
I used to live up the street from Dicker & Dicker of Beverly Hills. My jaw dropped when I happened to notice it.
