I have the earliest CD release of this Brown/ Ellington gem. The soundstage/ mix places Brown dead center and Ellington directly behind Brown. (as if Brown had his back to Ellington for the session) It was likely a mixdown decision but it just seems illogical that this type of setup would be appropriate for a session. Is there anyone who could elaborate on the mix and whether the remastered/ remixed? version was mixed closer to the actual placement of the players in the studio?

...Hoping as an Analogue Productions recording this will be released on SACD soon...

I have the Analogue Gold CD of TOFB, and it's the only version I've heard of it. Ray's mixed center but Duke is slightly to the right to my ears. Definitely a "stereo" sensation if that's what you mean. Really a stunning recording. Is a SACD in the pipeline?
