Anomalies, as in those horrid dropouts? ..and who wants to listen to flat transfers of the master tapes? Those were all mastered and mixed for vinyl cutting. If you like needle drops, then fine - but I myself prefer CDs to sound like CDs, not like vinyl records.
Another prospect are fairly ignored by the worshippers of the original 1987 cd's: They were prepared on machines with old technology. Fair enough that some it are flat transfers, but it didn't come over well on digital medium, leaving it thin and lifeless. The music was originally created for vinyl. Not for cd. And that is why the 2009 discs will always stand superior to me. The records do finally sound suitable for the digital medium. The 1987 cd's are flat, thin and lifeless. Revolver sounds like played from a thin-can. I will always swear to The Beatles on vinyl, but on cd, for the stereo's, the 2009 are the way to go, as the technology has made the music come out for the better.
Are the Canadian discs audibly different than the original mix stereo additions on the 2009 mono box versions of Help and Rubber Soul? Before I was able to save for the full mono box and make sure it wasn't a counterfeit, I was able to get the Help and RS single CDs just for those mixes from forum postings back then and have always enjoyed them over the 1987 Martin remixes. Are the Canadian discs available on auctions or Amazon Canada?
I like them for the most part. The mono box is essential (although I prefer the 2017 Sgt Pepper mono remaster). As for the stereo versions... 2009 Remaster A Hard Day's Night (only choice) Beatles for Sale (only choice) Revolver Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band Magical Mystery Tour Past Masters 1980's CD's Help - Original Mix (Canadian C2 46439) White Album Let It Be Abbey Road (EMI/Odeon CP35-3016) Please Please, With the Beatles and Rubber Soul all sucks in stereo.
Interesting that some posters on this thread somehow believe they can convince and turn over all others of their taste, just as long as they make as many posts as possible, blasting their 'truths', over and over and over again...
