Yeah, this is the whole reason for this film existing. Kinda predictable. Another Hanks "freedom" movie. It's like Frank Capra was reborn with his mawkish patriotism. All I can say is antoniod got it right on the first page of this thread.

Now who will play Mr. McFeely?
The late Robin Williams would have been perfect IMO.

That would have been interesting... I bet he would have done it very well.

Just a bump to Thread to share this vintage clip.

I didn't know Late Night w/ David Letterman had Fred Rogers on the program in 1982.

As a heads-up, PBS just released a 4DVD set of random episodes. Really cheap too (around $15), however there may be errors with mis-labeled episodes. I bought a copy but haven't checked it out too much yet.

At that price, I hope the easy purchase encourages a better set in the future.

Thank you for the film updates, came across Fred's 1981 visit to Sesame Street.

  11. Hmmm...yeah. He looks about as good as Ryan Gosling as Neil Armstrong.

Shouldn't it be "In THIS Neighborhood"?

All I can say is, Good Luck to Mr. Hanks....
Don't know if he's got the voice for all the puppet voices....
All I know is that, when I saw the doc, and they showed Daniel singing, "Sometimes I feel like I'm a mistake...", I started uncontrollably crying.....

I suspect that they will get a good voice actor to take on the voices for the puppets. It will allow them to get someone (Frank Welker comes to mind) who can sound like Fred Rogers doing the voices. Another option would be to use recordings of Fred Rogers for the voices of the puppets.

Hate to say it, but now that I've seen the trailer, I'm less enthused.

But I have the feeling it's just me.

Okay, I've seen it a few times now as everyone on Facebook is sharing it, and I overreacted. I needed time to adjust to Tom Hanks. Initially, a familar actor playing Mr Rogers brought to mind all those SNL/SCTV-type parodies.

That and the trailer not really giving a clue what the story is about.
