My request is for Grant's First Stand. As far as I know the original is only around in Mono, never seen a Stereo ear pressing of this one?

    Pacific jazz = Chet Baker

    Nuff said :)

Fingers crossed for that. The need for good audiophile pressings of Chet's albums is HIGH. Can't wait for January to find out what's being released.

That would be an excellent choice! Thanks to you advanced jazz guys here at SHF I discovered Mr Jones. Now one of my favorite jazz trumpeters.

Lee Morgan-Cornbread would definitely be a title that Id love to hear KG's mastering on. Here is hoping.

The tapes should be fine, the (european) 75th anniversary LP reissue sounds really good. No issues IIRC. I still prefer the original, though.

Is there a difference between the US and European 75th as far as mastering?

I finally got the shm-cd. It sounds more comfortable to listen to than the old cd I had. Not as harsh.

No, not as far as mastering is concerned, both were done by Bernie Grundman.

The main difference is the vinyl itself: the EU versions are 180g pressed at Optimal in Germany and almost dead silent. The US versions are standard weight (and pressed at United if I remember correctly) and are said to be very hit and miss in terms of surface noise.

Just finished Bobby Hutcherson’s The Kicker - this has to be something to consider, no? It’s idle moments part 2 and killer

Same - actually downloaded Apple Music Happenings first, then right below the download was “recommended” list and saw the kicker. Again, the only reason I can think that such a killer album wouldn’t be reissued would be due to condition of master tape - here’s hoping that’s not the case and just oversight.

Looking forward to developments with Tone Poet series. I'm developing an expensive habit with regard to jazz records... MMJ got me hooked.

If the msrp on these titles is $35-$40 I think I’ll almost certainly get every one.

No. They will available at retail through regular channels. To be clear, this is *not* a Music Matters project, and their latest [different] project is not subscription either.

Has anyone recommended Dexter Gordon's Clubhouse yet for Tone Poet? I'd really like to pick up an analog version of this soon. Joe, can you let anymore cats out of the bag? :sweating:

So have any titles been mentioned as of yet? How many titles will be released? 33 or 45? It sounds like they will be available at Music Direct and the lot...would be great if there is some kind of subscription series regarding the Tone Poet collection.
