Yep, apologies - I should never have pronounced it to be non-fill... now proved to be mis-tracking, as Mr Britt stated. In my defence it sounds more like non-fill than any mistracking I've ever heard. Also, again, it's just a moment, maybe less than half a second. And the music and sound on both volumes are superb, including a unique (in my experience) and beautiful sound to Ron Carter's bass.
Well CDs are available for around $25 and 44/24 downloads for around $16 before discount. I know, not Tone Poet quality but you can play it in your car.
I would think once this years releases are complete, it will post. But since some of the titles have already been mentioned, maybe sooner I hope. Going to be one heck of a Tone Poet year in 2021, that's for sure!
I belieeeeve: Andrew Hill, Passing Ships Dexter Gordon, One Flight Up Joe Pass, For Django Sonny Clark, My Conception Art Blakey & The Jazz Messengers, The Witch Doctor There are more but I'm not sure. Katanga! right? What else?
no, that was pure speculation, i.e. wishfull thinking by someone who saw an Amazon listing for a unspecified reissue
Holy crap @scotti thanks. I asked for this one a while back, absolutely fantastic set; so pleased to hear it’s on its way, thanks. By the way, as you have their ears so to speak, any word on Passing Ships being single or double?
UDiscover just listed for pre-order (11/20): Tina Brooks - The Waiting Game Donald Byrd - Byrd In Flight McCoy Tyner - Tender Moments
I would really like to see Jacki McLean - Demons Dance and McCoy Tyner - Expansions get a proper Tone Poets release. Two of my favorites in the catalog that never get talked about.
That's what I though too, but I easily could have missed a message. Further, I recall Joe said the TP would not include recently reissued titles. They did some that Classic Records did, years ago (Jutta Hipp, Lee Morgan) but no doubles of Music Matters or Analogue Productions as far I as know. The BN80 line has another approach. Nonetheless, I would really like to see AAA reissues of the old BN warhorses, especially when they're packaged like the MM/TP albums.
These should be around for awhile. Pace yourself with one here and there. Im under self-imposed cut back also during this pandemic just in case these dark days turn into bad rain. I feel ya.
Yeah, it was strange that The All Seeing Eye didn't get a 2x45 reissue. At one point, i thought maybe there was a missing tape preventing another AAA reissue, since it hasn't been done again on vinyl in almost 20 years. It's an overlooked title that needs to be available!
