From these sessions or of vintage origin (available elsewhere)?

Got my elpee yesterday and have played it. A bit of rise and fall on its rotation but plays dead quiet. Really pleased. I held off listening to any teaser material so it was all fresh to my ears. Great stuff.

You know, I don't understand the reaction to this. People are getting carried away. Yes, the musicianship is great.
    But the singers.....
Diana Krall is her usual breathless, over-the-top self and Tony is wheezing his way through the songs.
I can't see myself picking up Breathless Di and Wheezy Tony on this one. Somehow.

    Then don't. Simple as that!

I agree with this. If you don’t like raisins don’t buy Raisin Bran.

Last night, after close to 41 years of Tony Bennett records, this has now placed third in my favorites. Only beaten by When Lights Are Low, The Beat of My Heart. The Carnegie Hall concert fell to 4th. Tony’s and Diana’s sublime interpretations and the Charlap background shows a musicianship almost extinct.

Is it just me or is the bass really boomy on this recording?

    I got the 24/ 96 download.

I’m not sure if Tony’s solo bonus track is the same as in the US Target edition. There are conflicting descriptions in the EU. Can anyone confirm?

Having now had a closer listen, I have to say it, not all that impressed.
Yes, the musicianship is great, the backing trio do a great job. But overall, it sounds like two great artists phoning it in. Great background music, but not much more.
Sorry, but this one is dead on arrival. DOA.

Compare this with that record that Tony Bennett did with Lady Gaga - Cheek to Cheek. That has life. That is fun. Sounds great. They are doing that and having a blast.
That - IMO - is a cool record.
    This one is DOA.

The back of the Amazon CD has Tony's solo as "A Foggy Day".

Of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion... I'll take this over the atrocity that he recorded with Gaga any day. Gaga shouted her way through the songs without an ounce of restraint. Diana sings these songs as if they are second nature to her -- while I prefer her singing more contemporary tunes, standards from the "golden age songbook" are her forte.

So, the ex-US 14-Track “Deluxe” CD is not the same as the US Target Stores “Exclusive" CD.

I read this interesting fact on the album's wiki page

Wow! that's almost a 70 year career difference! I can't think of any recording careers longer than that.

    (1949) - 1st recording

Tony Bennett, Diana Krall - Fascinating Rhythm (2018)

I suppose if 101 year old Vera Lynn or Doris Day recorded anything new they could beat that! ;)

I am being told by someone who has seen some professional clips of the event ..."Let's hope it never gets an official release! Tony is not good."

I guess he’s at that “ difficult “ age now. He’s not going to be 100% But who’s to say it’s not better for him than stopping?

    The album sounds great btw.

    peace and love✌Dave
