I fully understand Maynard's recent backlash via social media to have people stop pointing the finger at him re: the delay in the new album coming out, but honestly I'm not sure how/why it's taken this long since Adam first posted on here that they were reissuing the back catalog on vinyl and we've still not seen/heard anything finite. I'm okay waiting for them to feel comfortable with the new material being in a finished state for our consumption but satiate us a little by reissuing albums that have been price gouged for decades now (Aenima, 10,000 days). I don't expect/need/want a box set or extra's or anything just press it through BG or someone comparable and get it out...I've waited years for an opportunity to hear that album on vinyl and I'm approaching giving up.
Highly likely but again, is it me or would you think if you announce albeit unofficially on a forum that it's planned "this year" [2018] and the material is already recorded/master/etc, assuming no remaster was planned why not just "push the button" to get production done? I mean it's free money for them (not that they're entirely in it for the money or whatever). Plus they have to know that it would slow down the riots and pitchforks raising up looking for the new material.
Much like the Tom Petty Wildflowers deluxe thread, I keep hoping for new news every time this thread is bumped.
Perhaps--but I think the band is very proactive about quality control. There have been so-so repressings of stuff like Undertow in the last 15 years, and I like to believe the band would like to make these as good as possible if they're going to go to the trouble. Call it perfectionism.
The funny thing is, 10,000 Days never had an official vinyl release. Im not sure how bad prices are for the bootlegs but I wouldn’t spend $10 on one. I’ve been waiting far too long to hear Rosetta Stoned on vinyl. As others have mentioned, I get the feeling the reissues took a back seat to the new album.
Sitting here waitin wishin.... In other news, recently added Primus Pork Soda to my collection. The recent pressing was cut from the master tapes and sounds awesome. Pick that up if you’re a fan of funk metal. I hope the tool re-releases sound half as good. 5/5 A++
I've been waiting and waiting but broke down and bought Undertow 1997 reissue and the Lateralus picture disc (hoping for the CB one) but completely out of luck for 10,000 days and Aenima. I guess we can only hope when the new album comes out maybe they will do some reissues.
You should pick up a copy of Opiate of you haven't already. usually available for less than 10 bucks, totally worth it. I've owned the heavy pressing of the Aenima first release and it didn't sound as good as the first side of Opiate.
Yeah, I bought Opiate a while back. So cheap it was a no-brainer. Not sure what pressing I have but it sounds good.
Apparently Tool is mastering right now with Bob Ludwig @ Gateway so hopefully @Adom Heart Brother, even if he no longer posts here or even visits, remembers all discussed here and ensures 2019 sees a Tool release that isn't slammed like the new APC record and is dynamically alive like the original AEnima release.
What!!!!!!!!??? Where did you get the info? Any links or anything? Do you know if they are mastering a new album or the past catalog?
Cool! I just hope the new album is stronger than 10000 days. Not that it was a bad album, but probably tool's weakest, imo.
