I was thinking the results probably show that here on Steve's forum there is a bias, perhaps due to geography and demographics. Someone must have bought all those Celine Dion albums, but it sure wasn't most of us.

Well, We are the types who typically gravitate towards Classic Rock with some who have fondness for pop music just not the pop music Celine Dion was making the in the '90s. Thus why the most albums with votes are the Classic Rock staples

We have 18 of these in our house so I guess that makes us pretty populist. Of those we don't have the albums we have - okay my wife has ( he says ) - another four compilation albums which gets us the well known songs. Sorry Alanis you are the missing diamond in our house but hey we got Hootie which surely must be #26!

I certainly don’t consider myself a populist but I am a collector and I have 13 of these.

  20. What do you say about those who purchased the "Popular" album when it was just a first release, or the next album by that band?
I have quite a few albums I purchased without much interest in the chart location or sales numbers, and just as many were purchased when the album was released, but not yet rated or ranked, other than first release reviews and such.

I’d say that’s probably how I acquired most of the ones that I own that are on that list. Like I said, sometimes after a decade or so you want to hear those albums again. Most of them are legitimately great on some level, or they wouldn’t have sold by the truckload. :)

Have 20 now. At one time, I did have the Celine Dions, and a version of the Dirty Dancing soundtrack.

The only one I have never owned whatsoever is The Eagles Greatest Hits, as there were later compilation available by the time I was into buying albums in 1985.

    EG.
