Billy Joel immediately came to mind for me. His Greatest Hits Vol. 1 & 2 has sold a ton, and many other big albums too.

Never understood Meat Loaf’s appeal, and it turns out he’s a creep too, but Bat Out Of Hell somehow became this monster of an album.

I've always been mystified by its appeal — and to so many people! My parents owned it and I always thought it was overblown crap.

    13. Don't have Eagles GH, as all those songs appear on the individual albums.

Falling into You was so big in Australia CBS deleted it because they figured out every person that was ever going to buy a copy already had it.

It's the first LP I ever bought and I love it, most especially the title track. The follow up LP Dead Ringer is great too!

You're certainly not alone! But I never liked the Steinman/Meatloaf musical style. To my ears, it sounded dated even in the 70s — unlike Rumours, for example, which is of its time but still manages to sound fresh.

    Seven.

Four of which I rarely listen to any more:
    AC/DC
    Both Eagles
Fleetwood Mac (some cuts feature prominently in playlists however.

And three that still get some turntable time:
    Zep
    Floyd
    Meatloaf
