Neil Peart - I would love to just sit down with him and have a deep, intelligent conversation. Ideally, we would not discuss his musicianship or Rush.

    Alex Lifeson - He’s hysterical.

Brian May - For the same reason as Neil Peart, except I’d probably talk about more technical things (about gear and things of that sort) with he than I would with Neil.

Zakk Wylde - He seems like a hoot...plus, he’s a fellow Seinfeld nut.

Jimmy Page - Need I say more?

Noel & Liam Gallagher. Same night, same pub. Should be a most enjoyable evening if it lasts more than two minutes.

PigPen, most of all. A heavy drinker, but always in control on stage. By all accounts he was irresistibly lovable despite his appearance. A glass of whatever he was drinking - probably the cheap stuff, Thunderbird, Mad Dog, etc.
The rest would be country artists. It isn't really a favorite genre of mine, but these guys all seem like they would nice and fun to bend the elbow with: Willie Nelson, Hank Williams, Jimmie Rodgers, Peter Rowan, Johnny Cash.

    Nice Thread, OP! :righton:
Took one half of 1st 1 I'd thought of:
    1. Liam Gallagher :agree:
    2. Bonnie Raitt
    3. Taylor Hawkins (not a fan of Foo Fighters at all, but he seems like a blast)
    4. Albert Hammond, Jr. (One of The Strokes guitarists & sometime songwriter w/Julian C. & on his own career.)
    5. Bobby Gillespie (Primal Scream)...
He's got almost encyclopedic knowledge of music that went before him (from articles I've read & a youtube that's similar to Amoeba's What's In My Bag)
& I'm sure has kept up on indie through the years & now. Would be entertaining & I'd learn things, too. And, if any wouldn't join b/c recovered alcoholic,
then substitute Johnny Marr or Jerry Cantrell (Alice in Chains' co-lead vocalist, guitarist & songwriter)!
Only one I can think of a particular drink is Liam; I'd join him w/a Stella Artois (beer). Might actually choose that w/any!

A lot of my faves would probably give me too much spin or not too guarded (McCartney I think). But for open straight-forward, "tell it like I see it" I think the list would be:

    1. David Crosby
    2. Rick Wakeman
    3. Dennis DeYoung
    4. Ron Wood
    5. Al Jardine

Crosby and DeYoung have big egos and are definitely taken with themselves, but I think they would give some mostly open non b.s. conversation.

I think all the musicians I would like to have a drink with are either dead (Keith Moon, Jim Morrison, Harry Nilsson, John Lennon...) or have given up drinking (Alice Cooper, Keith Richards, Ringo Starr, Joe Walsh...). :shake:

None. I always turn into a blithering idiot when I meet famous people. Either that or they turn out to be unpleasant people.

Other than John Stewart, they are of my age and common experiences, influences would come into play.

re: Stewart, besides being a big fan from KT through his solo career, I always found him to be very funny.

    And I like to laugh.

Keith Richards giving up drinking only means he switched from vodka to beer and wine.
