    1. The Beach Boys – "Pet Sounds" (1966)
    2. My Bloody Valentine – "Loveless" (1991)
    3. Pink Floyd – "The Dark Side of the Moon" (1973)
    4. Beastie Boys – "Paul's Boutique" (1989)
    5. The Clash – "London Calling" (1979)

Going past five albums and I would be here all night. I wanted to pick albums that represent the "best" from various eras, in my estimation.

These are records that went out on a high wire and didn't look down for 40 - 60 minutes. Also, they are iconic and highly influential to a number of varied artists that followed in their wake.

The Marshall Mathers LP - Eminem

The first five are my "true top five." All of them did something extraordinary for their genre of music at the time; they were classified as something fresh and new, and bold. Whether it be putting live albums on the map or shooting them to superstardom, or bending the requirements for what a (insert genre here) album should be like or at least be influenced by, all these albums are still relevant to some degree to this day. That's why this is my Top 10 list.

Probably. But the big guns are, by and large, getting their vote split across a number of albums (eg Rolling Stones, Led Zep, Pink Floyd, Who, Beatles, Jimi H.)

This reduces the votes for each individual album and allows space for an outside act with only one LP of interest to creep in.

Exception to the rule - I consider Van Morrison to be a big gun with a great run of LPs from 1968 to 1979, but early voting is showing a general consensus on Astral Weeks so I sure that this LP will finish with a top 5 position.
